CNBC reporter Courtney Reagan may have been talking about engagement rings for a taping of the Nightly Business Report last week, but she had no idea she was about to get one of her own.

The 31-year-old, who was taping a segment on luxury engagement rings, was left open-mouthed after her hedge fund analyst boyfriend Jared Baker walked on set and proposed to her on air.

Pulling her out from behind the news desk, Mr baker got down on on knee and asked her to marry him. Reagan said, 'Yes!'

'It's been a long time. Seven years...,' he started. 'I love you so much. I have since the day I met you.

'I've always known you were the one. I love your smile. I love your laugh. I even love the way you dance. Will you marry me?'

Miss Reagan immediately started crying as he began to propose.

'Oh my god. Yes! Thank you, I love you,' she said through tears.

The show's anchor Tyler Mathisen had started the segment by talking about jewelry as the man's best friend' during the holiday season, prompting Miss Reagan to expound on the popularity of engagement rings this time of the year.

Mr Mathisen then segued into 'middle level jewelers,' referring specifically to the popular diamond retailer Jared, which has stores in malls across the country.

Without missing a beat, Mr Baker appeared on set and surprised her with his heartfelt words.

The proposal was then aired on MSNBC's Way Too Early morning show on November 14, where a smiling Miss Reagan admitted she 'had no idea,' about Mr Baker's proposal, adding that she is 'really happy'.

The moment a man proposes to his future wife is a special & beautiful one..a sacred moment, and one of the true inflection points in life. It takes a lot of courage & planning to build up to the moment, and you can see that was certainly the case here. These two seem to deeply love each other, and I wish them a happy lifetime together..for richer, for poorer..in sickness & in health..till death do them part.

Hope it's not too long before life's most intimate moments are once again private, and not some sort of performance art.

I hope he checked before and knew that she would like being proposed to in front of the entire nation. Personally, I would have hated it. It's not romantic in the least. That's her place of WORK! It should have been a private moment between them in a romantic setting that he went to a lot of trouble arranging. I'm not jealous in the least as one poster suggested. I'm just sad for her. Every young girl dreams of being engaged¿but not like that! Of course, there's the possibility that she's not romantic, in which case I withdraw my comment. Either way, I wish them the best.

A lot of jealous people posting here. That was too cute; it's wonderful to see declarations of love in a world that's full of hate. I hope that their love continues to grow.
