'I'd like to see where Travis is today?': Robert De Niro reveals he would be keen to make a sequel to Taxi Driver

It’s been almost 40 years since Robert De Niro starred as an insomniac war veteran who turns vigilante while working as a night time taxi driver.
And now Robert De Niro, 70, could be set to make a sequel to the classic film after he admitted that he would like to see what Travis Bickle would be doing today.
The Hollywood star played loner Travis in the award winning 1976 film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader.

It has been speculated for years that there will be a follow-up to the critically acclaimed drama film.
Asked if Taxi Driver is the film he'd most like to revisit, De Niro told The Guardian: ‘Yeah, well, I had that idea. I said, why don't we write something? And I talked to Marty and Paul did take a shot at something, whether it was an outline or a script, I forget.
‘But somehow we didn't feel it was right and it didn't take off. But I'd like to see where Travis is today.

There was something about the guy – all that rage and alienation, that's what the city can do to you. I mean Marty and I are from New York, and even we can feel alienated.’
De Niro was also asked about the theory that Travis dies at the end of the film, with the closing scenes being a fantasy.
He said: ‘You mean the end of the movie? Well, that's an interesting theory. I know that was not the intention, but it's as valid as anything.’

De Niro is set to star in The Family, with is due for release on 22 November, with Martin Scorsese as an executive producer and co-starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
The actor plays a mobster who joins the witness protection programme after his mafia family turns against him.
He is also believed to have signed up to star in comedy film The Intern, alongside Reese Witherspoon, which follows an online fashion business which hires senior citizens as interns.
Meanwhile, Scorsese's new film 'The Wolf of Wall Street' is set to be released at Christmas.
