O’Neill pledges K4 million to Caritas

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has pledged K4 million to the all-girls Caritas Technical Secondary School in Port Moresby for infrastructure projects over the next two years.

O’Neill made the announcement at the Schools 18th Cultural Show over the weekend.

Caritas Technical Secondary School came alive as students, teachers, family and friends proudly displayed their traditional attire.

It was the schools 18th Cultural Show, and the presence of the Prime Minister at the event made the ceremony even more significant.

In his speech to the school, Mr O’Neil acknowledged the work of Caritas in providing education for the young women of PNG.

He said it was encouraging to see that cultural events such as todays showed that the student’s cultural identities are still embraced.

Mr O’Neil reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to raise the standard of education. He said infrastructure was a big component of this and committed K4 million to the school for this year and the next.

Caritas Directress Sr Florentina Cho was overwhelmed at the Prime Ministers support and said it was a blessing

She added that the cultural show was a highlight for the school every year, and wanted to promote the students cultural identity.
