A selfmade icon! Olivia Palermo leaves The City behind as she heads to Spain for the Marie Claire Fashion Prix Awards

She's far from The City, but Olivia Palermo continues to dazzle no matter where she happens to land.

The onetime reality TV star was spotted at the Marie Claire Fashion Prix Awards in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday doing her very best to maintain her title of 'style icon.'

The 27-year-old socialite walked the red carpet in cocktail attire that featured a black sequinned bodice and skirt.

The black long sleeves of the garment were sheer, while her slim figure was showcased by a black belt that brought in the waistline.

She wore embroidered pumps with a stiletto heel, which stood out among on the single-tone black dress of mixed fabrics.

In her hand she carried a gold box clutch that fastened with a blue gemstone.

The former star of The City wore minimal makeup, except for a thick eyeliner and heavy lash to create a cat-eye effect. She had a shimmer of color along the her eyelid to complete the look.

Palermo's hair was worn up in a complicated braided updo that showed off the socialite's graceful neck.

While walking the red carpet, Palermo posed for pictures with shoe designer Stuart Weitzman. The two worked together in 2011 when the shoe czar invited the young designer to fashion a shoe for charity.

Palermo was honored at the ceremony for her contribution to the fashion industry, as well as her charitable work with the Maasai tribe.

The fashion designer/writer was also recently honoured in August when she was named Chadstone's first Spring Summer 2013 Icon of Style.

Also at the event was American fashion model Arizona Muse, who looking dazzling on the carpet in a bright red evening gown featuring a plunging neckline and a small bow on the bodice.
