'I'm trying to find my identity again': Bethenny Frankel dishes on her new life and growing up in a household full of 'eating disorders'

Nowadays, she's the one convincing celebrities to dish the dirt on their trials and tribulations on her self-titled talk show.

But it was host Bethenny Frankel's turn to take back the podium as she fronted the cover of Health magazine's December issue, opening up about her mission to rediscover her identity and growing up in a household 'obsessed' with being thin.

The 43-year-old mother and television personality was a picture of youth and beauty as she lounged against a pristine white couch in a skin-tight outfit to pose for the magazine's cover.

Bethenny revealed a slim and toned physique as she flashed her tiny midriff in a petite white crop top, with apparently zero bumps to hide in her low-cut skinny jeans.

In another shot, the former Real Housewife shimmers in form-fitting silver pants, impressively high stiletto heels and a tight white tank as she reclines on a luxurious white lounge set.

But the star made sure to note that although body issues have been a hang-up for her in the past, they are practically non-issue now as she pursues her career as an entertainment and lifestyle businesswoman and entrepreneur.

'I grew up eating quality food but in a very obsessive household about being thin and eating disorders,' she revealed, speaking of her upbringing which took place primarily in New York City.

'When I was in my 30s, I just unlocked the safe,' she continued. 'I figured out how dieting doesn't work. I'd been on every diet and it took me all those years to realize: Diets are hopeless. They are hope, and then they break your spirit.'

But the talk show host knows considers it an irrelevant concern nowadays and has learned to not only embrace her 'flaws' but even capitalise on them.

'I'm not overly concerned. I like that I have a nice figure, but I don't any feel pressure about it,' she explained.

'It's not the thing that people identify me with. I mean, they do, but it's not who I think I am. I'm flawed. I've created a success based on being flawed.'

Bethenny has found herself the center of controversy at various points in her public life, most recently concerning her divorce from Jason Hoppy - the father of her three-year-old daughter, Bryn - but said in the interview that she is on a mission to find herself again.

'Recently I'm trying to find my identity again,' she revealed. 'I'm figuring out who I am in this new life. So I'll take my dog and go for walks along the river. I'll walk and do something mindless. It's good.'

And social media has formed a large part of the fiery, outspoken brunette's experience with controversy and debate, apparently leading to a few personal revelations about how to manage one of the more popular platforms.

'My Twitter audience can be great. They can be harsh.'

And her savvy executive producer has dished out a little advice on the topic, it seems.

'Ellen [DeGeneres] says to never buy into any of it. Don't buy into the haters. Don't but into the lovers. But I get a lot of inspiration from people on social media. I think you learn a lot about people; you learn what they like. It's a good place to connect.'

Bethenny is recently single, so she threw out a few sneaky hints on how to tickle her fancy.

'I'm always so in charge, I'd like someone else to take charge,' she said, when asked what she feels are the most important qualities in a partner. 'And it's not that easy. I'm not that easy a person to take charge of.'

But the powerful woman was quick to clarify: 'I don't want anyone to take charge of my business. I want someone to take charge of my personal life.'

And it seems Bethenny is not having an easy time navigating the cross-section of human wants and needs, as she explained to the magazine that she is yet to find the perfect balance.

'I don't think you can have it all at once. It's hard to have a career and a personal life and a love life and a sex life. If it happens, I'll let you know!'

Bethenny has lots to celebrate, announcing on Monday that she has developed four new non-alcoholic drinks with Arizona Beverages.

Furthermore, RadarOnline reported that the star's Fox series topped Queen Latifah's CBS series in the week ending October 27.

this whining from the woman who names her product line "skinny girl"? Seriously? She is a bigger poser than Gwyneth Paltrow, and that is saying something!

Bethenney, you will NEVER be happy. You wrecked your marriage before all of our eyes on your narcissistic show. Hope your daughter lives full time with her father.

Well, look at it this way: her seemingly endless self-obsession is probably supporting a team of therapists.

Time she stops blaming her parents, and very privaledged upbringing, she's been an adult for a very long time now and that's just an excuse for her horrid antics. She had a terrific guy and she dumped him. Now she's becoming the nightmare she blamed her mother of being during her childhood. The little girl would be better off in her father's custody with Bethany having visitation.

Absolute hogwash. Like it or not, her recent ratings are better than they've ever been. She did have worrisome ratings for a while, but not recently. Just read back issues of the DM and you'll see that this is true. In any case, Bethenny has made her career and her fortune by commercializing her entire life. It's always worked for her, so I don't know why anyone would expect her to suddenly change that now.

Hot mess. You are a middle aged divorced mother, business owner, reality tv something. That is your identity.

Why on earth doesn't she just take the high road and be " divorced" without all of the cheap shots - we get it, you hate him - you're done, ok- god, shut up! Bethenny wants a man who will be in charge....as long as it doesn't interfere with her "it's my way or the highway" philosophy.
