They are both highly successful in the entertainment industry.

And Brooke Shields, 48, and Padma Lakshmi, 43, know the secret to looking posh while staying professional.

Showing the stylish side to success, both women opted to wear flattering figure-hugging frocks as they attended Citymeals-on-wheels 27th Annual Power Lunch For Women at The Plaza Hotel on Friday.

Brooke brightened up the soiree by arriving in a tight black and charcoal colour-blocked dress that was punched up with neon yellow.

Keeping it classy, she teamed the number with a pair of simple pointed-toe pumps, a structured black clutch and minimal jewellery.

Her thick brown locks were styled with a loose curl at the bottom, voluminously flowing past her shoulder.

And the former child star's make-up complemented her look perfectly, accentuating her features without being too dramatic.

Meanwhile, Padma went for a sweet yet sophisticated image by donning a slimming white dress that was belted with a thin black bow around her waist.

The cap-sleeved number also scooped around her neck to modestly reveal a bit of cleavage.

And spicing her ensemble up, the cookbook author teamed it with a trendsetting pair of leopard pumps and a delicate gold necklace.

Like Brooke, the Top Chef host let her silky ravenous locks flow down and wore a subtle face of make-up.

The Power Lunch For Women has 'grown into a networking imperative for the city’s most influential ladies and the handful of generous men who pay $10,000 for the privilege of joining them,' according to Citymeals.org.

This year’s event called upon Katie Couric to honour Citymeals supporter Betsy Bernardaud and its founding board member Donald Tober.

Guests - which also included Bernadette Peters, Cynthia Nixon, and Kathie Lee Gifford - also were treated to a special performance by the iconic Cyndi Lauper.

Brooke looks better here than in the last five years. Reminds me of her face when she was younger.

"Power Lunch For Women " Why do these strange looking old women need to have "Power Lunches"? Is it something to do with getting over the botox jabs?

Cynthia Nixon looks like an old school marm or a very boring librarian. All that cash and this is the best she can come up with?

They are in their forties so why do they HAVE to look younger than forty? Again women can only be judged by their looks. Give women a break!!!

That's the point. I don't think these women look in their forties. They look much older!

I often hear women in their 40's saying that celebs that are the same age look older. However, I rarely see women past early 40's that can pass for 'years' younger. People sometimes over estimate how young they actually look, especially to much younger people. These women look great, there is nothing wrong with looking 40's but it is silly to expect these women to look decades younger .

Some women look more beautiful as they age. Brooke is one of them and judging by some women who still look fabulous in their 70's and 80's (Helen Mirren, Linda Gray, Joan Collins etc), Brooke has no need to worry about ageing. She's only 48 and that's no age these days. I'm sure Brooke will still look beautiful when she's in her 70s and 80s. It's the ones who opt for plastic surgery that look more and more weird as they age.

I'm in my forties. If any of them hung out with me people would think they were my mother. They look old.
