Friday marked a very exciting day for Back To The Future fans.
Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown, better known these days as Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, were seen reuniting in New York.
Christopher was filming a guest appearance on The Michael J. Fox Show, 28 years since the release of Back To The Future in 1985.
Where they're going, they don't need roads: Christopher Lloyd (L) and Michael J. Fox reunited in New York on Friday
The pair, who also starred in second and third instalments of the franchise in 1989 and 1990 respectively, have remained great friends over the years.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Christopher will play the principal at the high school where Annie Henry (Betsy Brandt), the wife of Michael’s character works.
The episode featuring 75-year-old Christopher, who like Michael was clad in knitwear under a suit jacket on Friday for filming, is due to air in the spring.
Great Scott!: The pair starred together in Back To The Future in 1985, and its two sequels in 1989 and 1990
Rock and roll: Christopher was filming a hotly anticipated guest appearance on The Michael J. Fox Show
Earlier this week a fan asked Michael during a Twitter chat if he and Christopher still keep in touch.
And the 52-year-old got everyone excited when he replied with the words: ‘Newsflash: he's shooting next weeks' episode.’
While it doesn’t look like the Delorean will also be making an appearance, there’s no doubt the very special guest will help boost the show’s falling ratings.
You never know when or where it's ever gonna strike: Christopher will play a high school principal in the episode
What the hell's a gigawatt?: The pair were spotted getting ready to film scenes for the show
NBC famously ordered 22 episodes of the series without seeing a pilot - an unusual move in U.S. television.
Its third week saw ratings plummet 29 per cent to 3.8 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The Michael J. Fox Show sees the Canadian-born star play news anchor Mike Henry who gives up his job to focus on his health and family after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Where's the Delorean?: Unfortunately it doesn't look like the car from Back To The Future will be making a return
Let's hope there are no Libyans around: The pair were looking sharp in their wintery suit jackets for filming
But five years later, he decides to return to work, with the show exploring the struggles between his family and career.
Reports emerged last month that Michael had also contacted his former Spin City co-star Heather Locklear in the hope she would make an appearance on his show.
'Michael has reached out to Heather about coming on The Michael J. Fox Show,' a production insider told Radar. 'He’s totally driven to make the show a success and is willing to monkey with the format to do it.
'He thinks a well-received guest-starring visit by Heather might lead to a more regular role.'
There's a slight possibility of overload: No doubt fans can't wait to see Christopher in action in the spring
