She was spotted kissing her co-star at the beach.

But - luckily for her boyfriend Maksim Chmerkovskiy - the recipient of Kate Upton's kisses happened to be a horse.

The 21-year-old model was taking part in a Western-themed fashion shoot in Malibu, California on Saturday.

Dressed in an artfully-gaping checked shirt with zip details at the shoulder, Kate rocked a pair of denim hot pants as she posed for pictures on the sand.

After a quick outfit change, the Sports Illustrated cover girl appeared in white shorts, an olive green shirt and knee-high gladiator sandals to pose alongside a skewbald horse.

Kate pouted for the camera as she held onto a pair of long leather reins which were attached to her calm equine friend.

The blonde bombshell even gave the lucky pony a little kiss on the top of his head as he stood patiently by her side.

Posting a picture on Twitter of herself riding the horse, Upton gave little away, except to say she was having a 'fun' day on set.

Her pro dancer boyfriend Maksim, 33, was nowhere to be seen, and that may be down to the fact they are rumoured to be 'spending time apart.'

'Maks has been telling friends that he is no longer bringing Kate to a wedding that they were both scheduled to attend together,' a source told Radar Online writer Alexis Tereszcuk.

'Maks isn’t saying anything bad about her, but it’s a very telling development that she’s no longer accompanying him to the wedding.'

The Sports Illustrated cover girl has been dating the bad boy of the ballroom since June. They only went public in September when they were spotted holding hands in New York City.

Meanwhile, Kate is set to enjoy her first prominent film role in The Other Woman - in which she appears alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann - when the flick screens next year.

Say what you will about her shape - I like that she's hot and has meat on her body. So what if she isn't an hourglass? Are we really going to teach young girls that they should be embarrassed over a body shape they cannot help?

DM cracks me up....'western' styled shoot..UM DM..this is the WEST...its like haveing a shoot in London and stating.....London styled shoot.... Just becaue you have your own preconcieved notions as to what somethign is, doesnt make it headline news. and ANYWAY..those who say she doesnt look good, are insane..
