She picked the right career! Designer Ashley Olsen drowns tiny frame in a sack of a coat but still manages to look stylish

Summer is fading and New Yorkers are reaching for their jackets.

But nobody's was warmer and more snug than Ashley Olsen's on Saturday, who drowned her petite frame in an enormously baggy trench coat to embark on a Madison Avenue shopping expedition.

On anyone else it may have been a style fail, but the 27-year-old fashionista managed to make it look as stylish as any one of her other winning ensembles.

Ashley, who has now crafted a life out of designing collections with her twin sister Mary-Kate, surprisingly looked as elegant as can be in the lengthy, tan trench coat.

She threw the deep-pocketed garment over a pair of black skinny jeans and hid her wavy blonde locks beneath it too.

Not one to cut corners, the stunning blonde added a classy pair of earrings as well as perfectly matching sunglasses to the cosy, fashion-forward experience.

Doing it in style: The 27-year-old stunner never fails in the fashion department, even managing to nail an otherwise shapeless brown sack of a coat

Of course continuing to pay attention to detail as far as her accessories were concerned, Ashley's brown crocodile handbag matched her slip-on shoes almost perfectly.

The star made her way down Madison Avenue, a road the New York local has no doubt trodden countless times as a lover of good clothing.

At one point, the talented designer reached into her coat's enormous pockets and pulled out her cell phone, making sure to check in with the device even though she and her sister famously avoid social media.

A happy and even smug look could be seen on Ashley's face as she made her way out of one particular shop, clearly in her element among the countless retailers and high end boutiques.

Speaking of crocodile handbags, Ashley and Mary-Kate love them so much that they released their own $39,000 backpack for their fashion label, The Row, which was available in Barneys department store in New York

Then last year, they brought out an eye-watering $55,000 version which was co-designed by artist Damien Hirst.

The stars are dedicated to their fashion label and admit they left the acting profession to try their luck in the designer world.

Ashley recently told Allure magazine: 'I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who were representing me, 'I need to do things 100%.

'I don't feel like I can give you 100% of my time... There's a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can't sit in this room and audition for this part.'

Ashley's comment comes after Mary-Kate revealed earlier this month that she and her twin sister never 'really felt like we were actresses'.

She added: 'We still feel welcome in the entertainment industry. But it's not the one we're in.'

Mary-Kate and Ashley recently appeared on the cover of the December issue of Allure magazine, which will hit stands on November 19.

More her thing: Ashley appeared on the cover of Allure magazine and said that she didn't feel like she could give acting 100% commitment anymore so they were retiring

These 2 have the worst dress sense!! You'd think they could afford clothes that actuskky fit and aren't 6 sizes too big!!!

She looks like a hard-living 40 year old. And never had any fashion sense imo.

She wears fur, a horrible example to set. Should be ashamed.

She looks great and sophisticated. It was blistery in NY today, this was perfect to wear. Funny that the "tiny framed" Olsens "drown" in "enormously baggy" cozy cashmere jackets yet when Kanye puts the voluptuous Kim in one (a different one each day this week!) her choices are praised to high heavens by DM.
