New York residents are gearing up for the bitter cold of the upcoming holiday season.

But Michelle Williams isn't letting the doom and gloom of winter take over her own Brooklyn home; instead, she's filling it with glorious floral arrangements to keep the colour of summer alive.

The stunning 33-year-old spent her Saturday morning transporting an oversized bundle of flowers along a gusty footpath and back to her abode.

The gorgeous blonde actress did a good and fashion savvy job of keeping herself protected from the elements in a dark green military inspired zip-up jacket.

Michelle dressed her slim physique in skinny black leather trousers and pounded the pavement in her favourite pair of leopard print slip-on shoes.

A snug black scarf added an extra layer of warmth and a chic pair of sunglasses shielded her face as she headed out for her morning errands.

The Blue Valentine star's mission for the day was apparently to collect as many floral delights as she could possibly carry in one armload.

And she certainly filled the quota, judging by the way she juggled the hefty bunch with the colourful flowers and hefty greenery seemingly providing a slight challenge for the actress as she navigated the streets.

But the pretty blonde did it with a beaming smile, clearly nonplussed by her heavy and particularly pokey errand.

The award-winning actress was likely taking the arrangement to decorate the home she shares with her eight-year-old daughter Matilda, whose father is the late Heath Ledger.

Michelle must be getting heavily into preparation for her upcoming role in the latest Broadway production of Cabaret.

The talented star will play Sally Bowles - a role famously played by Liza Minnelli back in the day - which is no doubt a brilliantly exciting task for a theatre debut.

Alan Cumming will star alongside Michelle as the Emcee, a role that has garnered him a Tony Award in the past.

Tickets officially went on sale last week, and the show's opening night is scheduled for April 24.
