The best disguise! Pierce Brosnan's salt and pepper beard helps him blend into the crowd at he visits the Farmer's Market with wife Keely Shaye Smith

Pierce Brosnan grew a full beard for his role as a Cambridge professor in How To Make Love Like An Englishman.

Thanks to the regal new look, the 60-year-old former James Bond star was able to blend into the crowd at his local Farmer's Market in Malibu on Sunday.

Pierce was accompanied by his wife of 12 years, Keely Shaye Smith, 50, and looked like an ordinary fellow in blue jeans, black button-up shirt and warming waist coat.

A pair of grey Nike trainers made padding around the fruit and vegetable stalls much more comfortable.

Most remember Pierce as the smooth-talking, dark-haired lover of women in such 007 flcks as GoldenEye and Die Another Day.

That was then and this is now, and Pierce obviously prefers just hanging out with Keely when he's not working on the set.

One thinks that Keely is the one in charge on the homefront, and it was she who took over the bag of purchases they'd selected from the vendors.

Pierce's wife wore a blue taffeta frock and beige flats, and had her long brown hair loose to allow it to flutter in the wind.

No doubt she's just happy to have Pierce home, beard or no beard.

The couple have two sons together, Dylan, 16, and Paris, 12, and Pierce has a son, Sean, 30, from his marriage to the late Cassandra Harris. He also adopted Harris' two children, a son, Christopher, and daughter Cassandra who tragically died earlier this year.

On Wednesday, Pierce cut a different figure on the Cambridge set of How To Make Love Like An Englishman as he sat astride a classic Triumph Bonneville motorbike.

While James Bond had no trouble zooming his BMW through narrow alleys and car parks, Pierce admitted that balancing the two-wheel vehicle was proving difficult.

‘The way I ride I’ll be walking out of here,' the Irish actor quipped outside Clare College where they were shooting.

But when asked what he thought of the city, Pierce said: 'It's grand.'

Easy rider: The actor may play a sexaholic in the romantic comedy, but riding a motorbike was more difficult for the star who quipped, 'The way I ride I'll be walking out of here'

A pair of sunglasses and a salt and pepper beard could not disguise Mr Brosnon from me. I'd know him anywhere. He's a great actor, a lovely looking man and maybe one day I will actually get his autograph.
