Helen Mirren quite literally dazzles in a pretty tea dress and on-trend bejewelled necklace at Red 2 premiere in Tokyo

Dame Helen Mirren, 68, has reaffirmed her status as a fashion icon at the Red 2 premiere in Tokyo.

The London-born star wore a fitted, plaid-print tea dress and paired it with on-trend, oversized accessories to the event on Sunday.

Quite literally dazzling in the figure-flattering outfit and stunning accessories, Helen was overcome with laughter during the premiere and threw her head back in a fit of giggles.

The star was promoting the action thriller Red 2 in the heart of Tokyo, which came out in cinemas in the UK over the summer. 

 

The actress plays a deadly assassin called Victoria in the action movie sequel, which also features Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Helen’s been dubbed a style icon for many years now, and rarely puts a foot wrong on red carpets around the world.

Only last week Helen stepped out in another hit dress at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London.

So this latest appearance is going to please her fans, who have come to rely on Helen for fashion tips and advice.

The over-sized, bejewelled necklace and matching ring and earrings give a nod to modern day fashion while the A-lister’s plaid dress is a simple classic.

Helen’s perfectly coiffured hair matched her modest make-up, and both were contrasted by her on-trend dark nail polish.

The star spoke to InStyle about the secret to aging gracefully, admitting it was ‘inevitable’.

She said: ‘I have no idea… Just realising it’s inevitable so live with it!’

Since I first saw her in Boorman's Excalibur I have been in lust. Still am. She probably looks better naked. Not many can say that. Imagine the Queen's English when she tells you faster. LOL

Not really a tea dress? To me that would be a softer printed fabric, more of a 30s/40s daytime look.
