They certainly have their fair share of celebrity fans.

But perhaps one of the most surprising Directioners is Cindy Crawford, who joined One Direction as part of their star-studded seven-hour livestream event on Saturday as part of 1D Day.

The supermodel encouraged Harry Styles and Liam Payne to break out their best Blue Steel poses as they showed off their catwalk skills, before later joining them on the runway herself.

The pair looked a little dazed and confused as the 47-year-old held them around the waist as they walked the catwalk in the sparsely decorated studio.

Cindy was just one of the stars who took part in the highly-anticipated 1D Day.

However, despite the celebrity guests, the day didn't go as smoothly as it could have done, with the boys' live television hosting skills left little to be desired.

The British bandmates struggled through the event, held at the YouTube Space LA in Playa Vista, California, which included chatting with their fans around the world via video link, attempting to break Guinness World Records, behind the scenes footage and the premiere of tracks from their new album, Midnight Memories.

The third studio album, which is due to be released on November 25, features their hit track Best Song Ever and latest release Story Of My Life.

Unfortunately, the bandmembers were plagued by problems hearing their fans in their earpieces throughout the day and ongoing technical difficulties saw the video cut out at several points.

'We think it's going OK. We're improvising,' Harry Styles told James Corden during a live video chat with the British actor.

When they asked the star whether or not he'd listened to their new album, the Gavin & Stacey actor laughed, 'Of course not - I'm 35 years old!' to which the boys burst into fits of laughter.

The five heartthrobs - Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne - were joined by revered UK journalist Piers Morgan and were surprised with another high profile celebrity fan during the festivities.

The idea behind the fan day came about several months ago, with the band wanting to 'give something back to the fans who had been there for them no matter what'.

The concept was to create an event 'ALL fans across the world could be a part of', which resulted in them teaming up with YouTube for the special seven-hour telethon-style amateur-hour show.

Fans were treated to plenty of fun facts and info about their favourite bandmembers, who divided into different groups for a variety of skits and activities in order to cover the entire period.

During a world record attempt to pop the most balloons in 30 seconds with only his bottom, Liam hurt his 'unmentionables' and walked away holding his crotch.

Though his attempt was unsuccessful and he only managed to pop 22 on both attempts, which was just shy of the record of 27.

Louis Tomlinson treated his followers to a behind-the-scenes glimpse at his favourite hobbie: soccer.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a kick around while in Melbourne, Australia recently as he talked about being lucky enough to combine his love of singing with the sport.

Niall Horan, 20, gave viewers a look around his hometown of Galway, Ireland as his number one Irish fan took a tour around his old school and chatted with his former headmaster and several relatives.

Liam revealed his passion for wrestling as he took to the ring for a comical fight, which he of course won, while 20-year-old Zayn Malik showed off his graffiti artwork.

Meanwhile, Harry was quizzed by Piers about his date with Kendall Jenner on Wednesday night, to which he gave a rather ambiguous response.

When asked about the status of their relationship and whether the couple were now an official item, he coyly replied: 'We went out for dinner, but no, I guess. I don't know.'

The singer was joined by the model at Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood, before they ducked out the back door in a bid to keep their date under wraps.

However, their plan was foiled as Harry was pictured driving the 18-year-old home in a black Range Rover shortly after.

Speaking of the Kardashians, Kendall's older half-sister Khloé sent in a video question for Harry and Niall, asking about fashion, before they gave her a round of applause.

how boring is liam payne like the guy who wouldnt lend you a biro in maths to teach you lesson. When he said the girl who stole his underwear should of been arrested i just though ahh thats our rock and roll liam.
