Technology is booming again and there are hundreds of jobs available to people who possess the skills companies are looking for-- jobs at start-ups, corporations, nonprofits, ad agencies, software companies, video production shops, boutique FX studios, brick-and-mortar retail places, portals, mobile companies, sports agencies, animation studios, movie companies, schools--even government agencies.

Salaries range between between $40K - $150K depending on your skills, where you work and what level you get hired at.

EARN A CERTIFICATE
BAVC provides an incredibly customizable training experience. You can pick and choose classes to supplement your skills or take a series of suggested class sequences with the most comprehensive industry-authorized curricula recognized at all levels of the media industry as the highest quality training available. Certificates generally take 3-6 months to earn and  range in price from $4800 - $6000 although you may be able to earn a flexible Certificate, choosing only the portions you need. These customizable Certificates may range between $1500 - $7500.

START NETWORKING
Attend BAVC events and talk to the person next to you in class--chances are they work at a digital media company. Learn how to leverage your LinkedIn contacts and your contacts’ contacts. Get used to the idea that you’re going to find a job through someone you know so let everyone know (even your grandma’s neighbor) that you’re on the hunt. BUILD YOUR PORTFOLIO
Whether you already have a reel or portfolio or you're an emerging digital media artist looking to leverage your skills into a paying position, you'll need to showcase your skillset and experience to convey to the world exactly what you can do. You may need help creating a new look or polishing your existing projects to make yourself more marketable. If that's the case, let's get to it. Employers tell us the portfolio is not only a must, but that it is the single most determining factor in whether a candidate gets interviewed or not. Portfolio classes are 6pm - 8pm. TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER
Like your own personal trainer, sign up to receive one-on-one expert mentorship in portfolio building.  Don’t get us wrong--you’ll be doing most of the work on this but your personal instructor will assess your skills, assign relevant projects, have regular check-ins with you, clear up any technical mysteries in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, social media, After Effects, Maya or Final Cut Pro and give you a final critique before sending you on your way to achieving success.  $750 for 5 meetings.

Figure out what level you’re at. Quizzes available:

  • Photoshop (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • After Effects (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • Illustrator (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • Final Cut Pro (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • InDesign (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • HTML/CSS (80% or above means you’re ready for the Intermediate level)
  • Basic Mac Skills
