It’s all about family: Sharon Osbourne ditches her X Factor finalist Sam Bailey to jet thousands of miles to comfort son Jack after Dancing With the Stars loss

She may have only one contestant left to fight her corner on the X Factor but that hasn’t stopped judge Sharon Osbourne from jetting 5,000 miles away this week.

The 61-year-old caught the red eye from London, landing in her home town of Los Angeles on Monday in time to support her son Jack Osbourne on the Dancing With the Stars final.

Sharon wanted to be in the front row to see Jack dance his final steps on the US show, with the mother of three seen looking emotional as her 28-year-old son finished in third place.

Jack, who has recently been struggling with painful symptoms related to his battle with multiple sclerosis, ran over for a big hug from Sharon and wife Lisa Stelly as he bowed out of the competition on Tuesday.

The final tally saw Amber Riley in the number one spot, leaving Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff in second place and Jack and his pro partner Cheryl Burke in third.

Sharon has been concerned about her son’s health after he wrote on his Facebook page last week that he was experiencing a relapse of his auto immune disease.

The former reality star wrote to fans: 'I woke up Tuesday morning feeling not so great. I had a thumping migraine and I started noticing some vision problems with my left eye.

'At first I thought it was just another migraine, but as the day progressed, I started feeling those familiar zaps of pain down my legs and arms.'

Adding: 'After several weeks of being relatively symptom free of MS, this week it decided to give me a healthy reminder that it’s still there.'

Sharon was left shaken up by the news, telling The Talk last week: 'I’d been on a plane so I didn’t see Facebook, I saw nothing.

'I literally got to the studio at five minutes after the show had started, sat down, Jack’s… little video presentation came up and then he said that his eye was bothering him again and I never knew, so I just lost it.

'I completely lost it and well… he got through and I just can’t thank everybody enough for supporting him.'

It seems Sharon is keen to be there for her son, no matter what, and that includes her commitments to the X factor and her finalist Sam Bailey back in London.

Sharon has been commuting back and forward between LA and London since starting the live shows, but with two of her acts already knocked out, concerns have been voiced about the amount of time she’s spending with her acts compared to her rival judges.

‘Sharon’s tough, but she’s doing a lot for her family at the moment,’ a source told Now magazine.

‘She’s a really family orientated woman, so this is hard for her.’

Sharon has been preoccupied with drumming up support for Jack this week, regularly tweeting in the days ahead of the final to try and get her son more votes but there’s been little mention of Sam since the weekend.

Whilst Sam is considered the favourite to win the competition thanks to her powerful voice, the 36-year-old prisoner officer recently admitted that she isn’t immune from low moments.

The mother of two told OK! Magazine that Harry Styles of One Direction had to step in ahead of last Sunday’s results show to comfort her:

'I was having a fat day and thinking I was going home and Harry found me upset in the corridor, put his arm around me and said come with me,' she recalled.

'He was really sweet, hugged me and said, "Sam Bailey I want to see you go out there and smash it"', she added.

This is not news...........She's been jetting to and fro fro LA every week since the X Factor started as she's apparently been doing a daily show over there.

Do you actually know what multiple sclerosis is? I hardly think he is being dramatic. Please try to be more considerate x

I had no exposure nor desire re: the Osbournes. Jack's stint on DWTS changed that. He is a genuinely decent and nice man. He did very well. He made it to the finals and a helluva lot had to do w new TV friends voting for him. He is a lovely man and I expected an idiot. His family is tight and his wife a lovely lady.I may have never been an Ozzy Osbourne fan and clearly all of this is on Sharon Osbourne......she raised some nice human beings. Bad on me for thinking I knew they were all twits. This is a solid guy, a really decent man.

Is she in a competition with Air-Miles Andy, or just looking to use up the planet's fuel reserves single-handedly?
