Maria Shriver can't hide her beaming smile as she's joined by her children for a pre-Thanksgiving lunch

Having just re-launched her career in journalism, she'll surely be thankful for some time off with her children.

Maria Shriver took advantage of the Thanksgiving Eve public holiday on Wednesday, and headed out for a spot of lunch with three of her children, Katherine, Christina and Christopher.

The busy 58-year-old - who was previously married to Arnold Schwarzenegger - could not wipe the smile off her face as she was joined at a Los Angeles eatery by all of her children except Patrick.

Maria was quite the cool mum in a pair of dark denim flared jeans, giving herself and her slim pins a bit of a seventies feel.

She wore a cropped blue cardigan over a long shirt and decorated her neck with an array of dangling, on-trend necklaces.

The former First Lady of California wore her lengthy brunette tresses down and straightened for the family outing, whilst shielding her face from the sun with large chic sunglasses.

Her broad smile was her biggest accessory, which she wore consistently as she strode by the side of her three children.

And it seems to have been a fun-filled day out for the famous family, who all enjoyed a giggly chat as they made their way through the parking lot together.

Later, Maria was seen enjoying a one-on-one stroll and chat with her son Christopher.

With her arm linked in his, the 14-year-old looked every bit the gentleman as he strode along the sidewalk by his mother's side.

On Thursday, Maria shared her Thanksgiving goals with the readers of her blog.

They included, 'to be open instead of closed, 'to be present instead of focusing on buying presents,' and 'to focus on having capital 'F' Fun.'

The award winning journalist and author also pledged to 'remain calm,' instead of getting stressed out.

Funny how you can take all these photos, have no idea what's really being said between the subjects, and somehow make a story out of it. Having said that, Maria looks fantastic.
