Pride of Stateside: Newlywed Cher Lloyd wraps up to perform at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Singer Cher Lloyd seems to have been adopted by the American public and on Thursday, she proved just how popular she is when she performed at Macy's 87th annual Thanksgiving Parade.

The former X Factor star stood upon a bridged shaped float and performed to the waiting crowds who lined the streets of Manhattan. The parade was aired on the NBC channel.

Cher, 20, performed her hit single, I Wish, which was released back in September and the crowds were lapping up her rendition.

It was a cold day in New York, so the singer made sure she was wrapped up warm in a black leather jacket with a matching hat.

She wore black and white optical illusion patterned trousers and polka dot gloves. She had heavy make-up on and was rocking a smoky eye look with a strong red lip colour.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the singer who tied the knot with her hairdresser boyfriend, Craig Monk on November 18th.

The star posted a single shot of her wedding onto her Instagram account with a simple heart alongside it.

And her former X Factor mentor, Cheryl Cole even congratulated her on the secret nuptials.

Taking to Twitter, she said: 'Wow!! Heard your good news. Congratulations @CherLloyd I hope you have many more happy years and memories to come. Cheryl x'.

And a happy Cher replied: 'Thank you so much!!!'

But not everyone is a fan of the petite star. X Factor judge Louis Walsh recently claimed that Cher was the most difficult act to work with on the show.

He also claimed that she once came off stage after an X Factor performance and shoved a camera.

Only last week Louis told Now magazine: 'I never liked Cher Lloyd. I saw the way she was behind the scenes, like a spoilt little child.'

But is she really that popular in America? It seems the only time I hear about her is when I come to Dailymail. I don't hear or read about her in the American sites. I just think she has a good manager that can book her with popular American gigs. As for people calling her name or blasting her music, I don't hear it. But maybe I'm wrong. Pls feel free to disagree.

Ah she's got veneers! Anyway I never liked Cher but she seems to have grown up and she's worked so hard. To think she was a normal young girl and now a big star in America.. Can only say I'm jealous.
