Tom Cruise denies romancing fellow Scientologist Laura Prepon... but he 'will date again and has been talking with women'

It sure sounds like a nice date.

This week Grazia magazine reported Tom Cruise, 51, took actress Laura Prepon, 33, to a fancy dinner at The Renaissance restaurant inside LA's Manor Hotel. It was just the two of them and the actor picked out a rare 1979 bottle of Merlot for them to share.

But the actor's rep told RumorFix the claim was 'false.' Laura's rep did not return calls to MailOnline.

If they were to date, they would certainly have one thing in common: both are members of the Church of Scientology.

'They see each other at some functions, but they are not dating,' an insider told UsWeekly.

The source goes on to say that the Oblivion star is interested in finding a girlfriend again, though. He hasn't publicly romanced anyone since his 2012 divorce from Katie Holmes (with whom he has daughter Suri, aged seven).

'He will date again and has been talking with women,' the Us source claimed.

'He's actually a lot more relaxed and more extroverted.'

Grazia's story is full of elaborate details.

'He had her picked up in a vintage car, knowing it was one of her favorite, and had pre-ordered a vintage bottle of 1979 Merlot, which was on the table when she arrived,' the magazine reported.

'They spent three hours laughing and joking.'

Grazia went on to say that Tom was 'smitten' and 'on cloud nine.'

The British publication adds the megastar and the Orange Is The New Black beauty had another date at the same place on Sunday, this time enjoying a brunch.

'Then she accompanied him a few days later to a dinner party at John [Travolta] home,' added the reporter.

John is also a Scientologist.

'[Tom is] the happiest he has been since his divorce from Katie,' added the article.

'Tom has known Laura for a few years now and they are all in the same social group that includes John and his wife Kelly Preston.

'He's always been fascinated by her and, since seeing her in Orange Is the New Black, that has turned into an attraction. So he bit the bullet and asked her out.'

Laura dated Christopher Masterson, the brother of her That '70s Show costar Danny Masterson, for seven years before splitting in 2007. She's also been linked with Californication actor Scott Michael Foster.

I know I shouldn't judge and each to their own but each time I hear of a celebrity that's part of this weird cult / religion they go down a notch in my book. How they have all been sucked into this is beyond me....

Even the Bible advises Christians not to be unequally yoked. That can also apply to people of the same faith. If one is more dedicated than the other, it can cause friction. I find it more disturbing that he only became attracted to her after he saw her in a film role, though. That smacks of shallowness and doesn't bode well for long term relationship, even if they do have the same religious beliefs. It sounds like a match made, not so much in heaven, but in the PR offices.

I still find it bizarre that the very spurious start up of Scientology by LRon Hubbard is overlooked and its gone somehow from strength to strength. Even odder if one knows about LRon and Aleister Crowley - a very odd and egotistical start to what has become a very wealthy 'religion/cult' call it what you will.
