Sasha Obama has proved herself to be seriously style savvy of late, and today was no different as the First Family welcomed their Christmas tree to the White House.

The President's youngest daughter, 12, stepped out in silver Oxfords with a cut-out panel and small heel.

Like many of the items worn by the Obama women, they were from ASOS, ringing in at a relatively purse-friendly $71.63 (£40).

She teamed the statement footwear with black tights, a high-waist A-line mini with embellished waist and a striped sweater, topped off with a dark blue coat.

Her hair was worn back off her face which was bare apart from a light slick of lip gloss, which she has taken to wearing.

The look is a well-chosen one for a girl yet to officially hit her teens. Almost as tall as her mother, Sasha likely no longer wears kids' clothes, but the pieces she has chosen still look fun and youthful while remaining appropriate for the occasion.

First Lady Michelle and elder daughter Malia, 15, also went for a jewel-toned palette in hues of magenta and purple that co-ordinated with Sasha's coat.

Of course, this is not the first time Sasha's choice of attire has made headlines. Two weeks ago, her appearance at a college basketball game in an ASOS unicorn sweater caused the retailer to sell out. Due to popular demand it was forced to restock the garment.

And on Tuesday, fashionistas predicted a similar storm when she joined her father for the pardoning of the turkey in a green sweater featuring dancing polar bears from Urban Outfitters.

Like many teens, it would seem that Malia and Sasha's wardrobes are packed with colorful finds from ASOS, Urban Outfitters and J Crew. But while their mother is also seen in the same labels, she also has an impressive collection of gowns and dresses worth four-figure sums.

Though Mrs Obama often favours bright hues, her look today was relatively muted. She wore a navy tailored coat, purple Argyle sweater and black pants and shoes.

Shows how out of touch and dumb the Obama's are. I cannot wait for a new President. A REAL President.

People should not take pot shots at politicians kids despite their feelings for the politician, whether it be Palin's kids or Obamas, or anyone elses.

there is nothing wrong with that skirt she has thick tights on and is wearing a long coat that covers her behind she's doing it modestly by itself it's inappropriate but the way she is wearing is tasteful and age appropriate looking for the wrong in the a KID dresses is distrusting pick on adults all day long but she's a KID who didn't sign up for what her dad did act your age not your judgmental shoe size poor girl looks gorgeous

No one would know what she wore if the press didn't broadcast it like this. The DM (and others) are creating the trend, not S.O.

I am confused. I thought taking pics of the President's kid was forbidden. Is trying to win back approval ratings at the expense of his kids?

Trendsetter? Umm, no. That's ridiculous. Trend FOLLOWER is more like it. I'm sure the girls try to stay in fashion, and do it well because of money and connections. That's fine, they should look good, they are the presidents kids! However, whenever they are away from their parents, they pose in "selfies" flashing "gang" signs and showing off their high priced items. These girls might end up being snotty if someone doesn't watch out for them.

Hey "Ladies", we know that you're females, you don't have to be prove it. You are in the public eye, enough with the tacky mini skirts....think Kate, not Miley when dressing to go out.

Why so many red arrows for this comment? If someone says "I find A more attractive than B," you would think some would find that helpful. I would much rather my daughter took after Kate than Miley, BTW. Does anyone feel differently?
