Bellew refuses to believe the hype as he plots victory over 'Superman' Stevenson

Tony Bellew has promised to expose Adonis Stevenson as a 'small man with a huge ego' when the two clash in Quebec on Saturday night.

The Canadian, nicknamed 'Superman', has earned his fearsome reputation with a string of sensational knockouts, including the scalps of Chad Dawson and Tavoris Cloud.

But Bellew is refusing to be intimidated by the WBC and Ring magazine light-heavyweight world champion.

'I've worked really hard to get here,' he said. 'Nothing has been given to me or handed to me.

'I'm facing the premier fighter in the division; this is why I targeted the WBC title from the start

'This is a lifetime's work going into 36 minutes.

'But I don't plan on going 12 rounds. There's only going to be one guy standing at the end of this fight.'

Stevenson, 36, ripped the world title from Dawson with a stunning one-punch knockout in June before former champion Cloud was retired at the end of the seventh round three months later.

But Bellew, who fell short in his only other world title challenge against Nathan Cleverly two years ago, insists he will spring a surprise in front of Stevenson's home crowd.

'I know what I'm going in to; he's a known quantity,' he added. 'Does he know what to expect from me? I don't think he does.

'I'll come with a plan, I'm not going to come in like Chad Dawson and not show him respect.

'I won't come in like Tavoris Cloud and get hit in the first round and after that he's petrified.

'I'm going to get hit and I'm going to hit him back. I'll do whatever it takes. I'll do absolutely anything.'

Bellew, who turns 31 on the day of the fight, maneuvered himself into a mandatory position with wins over Edison Miranda, Roberto Bolonti and Isaac Chilemba.

And the Liverpudlian pointed to Stevenson's knockout defeat to Darnell Boone - which he later avenged - as evidence of the champion's vulnerability.

'I don't believe the hype, I believe in facts,' he added. 'He's been knocked out by a journeyman, I haven't.

'I told him those belts are coming with me.

'I am not intimidated by him. He's just a small man with a huge ego and a great punch.

'If you take the punch away, he's just a small man.'

Yep. Bellew will need to K.O. him to get a result over there. I can't see it...

I think Stevenson was a bit lucky against Chad Dawson, who I regard as a top fighter. Tony's got a big height advantage, but I wonder whether he'll make use of it, Tony likes a scrap and Stevenson can deliver the big shots. Will be a good fight.

You didn't just call Groves...from what I remember, you left 5 or 6 messages on each story saying how slow/old/overrated Froch was and how Groves was going to beat him.

I cannot recall an era in British boxing where there has been this many British boxers who I have disliked so much. Carl Froch, Kell Brook, David Haye and Tony Bellew.
