And it is no wonder why, for Arnold Swarzenegger's estranged wife Maria Shriver looked gorgeous as she bounded into LAX airport on Monday.

Showing her former action star husband what he was missing, the 58-year-old looked youthful-looking with her glowing flawless complexion and bouncy shiny hair.

Maria's outfit was also pristine, with the former journalist clad in a comfortable yet business-like black ensemble.

The brunette beauty topped off the outfit with a matching black Birkin bag and she carried some papers as she walked.

In true Maria form, her hair looked perfect like she just stepped out of the salon.

Her signature locks shimmered in the natural day light as her warm curls bounced as she entered the airport.

Maria filed for divorce from actor turned politician Arnold, 65, in July 2011 after it emerged he had fathered a son with the family's housekeeper.

But two years later and according to reports, neither side is in a hurry to finalise proceedings, and remain on good terms despite the scandal.

In January this year, the Austrian Oak told a German newspaper he hoped they would be reunited.

He said: 'We're not fighting any war. I still hope for reconciliation, I still love Maria.'

According to TMZ in May, Maria and the actor - who have four children, Katherine, 23, Christina, 21, Patrick 19, and Christopher, 16 - have put their legal proceedings on hold, as they have reportedly revealed to friends how sometimes they want to get back together, and other times, they don't.

Since the split, the award-winning journalist has thrown herself back into work and has rejoined NBC as a special anchor who will focus on women's issues in the work place and their changing roles in American life.

She has also launched her own website The Shriver Report, 'a multi-platform nonprofit media initiative led by Maria Shriver that seeks to modernise America’s relationship to women.'
