They say that the death of somebody you know makes you more thankful for what you have in life.

So following the tragic death of her co-star Paul Walker this weekend, Jessica Alba decided to enjoy a day with her daughters Honor and Haven and husband Cash Warren on Sunday.

The 32-year-old star looked in good spirits as she splashed around on the sands and in the sea with her little girls, snapping pictures of the family day out for posterity.

Jessica wore a pair of skinny jeans rolled up as she paddled in the sea, teamed with a black vest top and loose-fitting black jacket.

She finished off her look with a pair of sunglasses and left her brunette hair loose and wavy to add to her beachcomber look.

Cash also sported jeans and a black jumper, with a red T-shirt underneath, as he kept a close eye on his daughters.

And Honor and Haven certainly appeared to be having a good time, grinning widely as they dashed along the sands.

Little Haven, two, looked super-cute in black and white Yin and Yang dress, while her older sister Honor, five, wore a loose-fitting pink and taupe frilled dress.

The beach trip came after Jessica took to Twitter to express her grief over the passing of Paul, 40, who died after the car in which he was a passenger crashed into a pole and burst into flames at 3:30pm Saturday.

He and his friend, Roger Rodas, had just left a charity event in Santa Clarita, California.

'#RIPPaulWalker -he was a lovely person -so sweet and grounded. My heart goes out to his family,' Jessica wrote.

Jessica and Paul became overnight box office contenders after the release of their 2005 hit Into The Blue, during which Paul appeared without a shirt most of the time and Jessica flitting about in a skimpy bikini.

The action adventure, which was filmed primarily in the Bahamas, revolved around a group of young divers who get into deep trouble with a drug king after they find an illicit cargo of a sunken airplane.

The movie, which also starred Scott Caan, spawned a 2009 sequel that placed Chris Carmack and Laura Vandervoort in the title roles.

Solace? She doesn't look like she's grieving to me.

I don't even know WHY she should be so heartbroken, she made a movie with him in 2005, probably never hang out with him afterwards and simply did a tweet to pay respect and sympathy to his family, yet it's the thrid article you write about Alba mentioning Walker's death....

A lot of people can be sad and heart-broken yet keep it together, especially for their family. Her being happy with her daughters does not in any way mean shes not sad about her friend passing.

Not sure I'd be out on the beach having a laugh if someone I cared about had just burnt to death.

She doesn't look that upset but I'm sure Paul would have wanted her to be happy
