(Sacramento, CA) - On Tuesday, May 26, 2009, Senator Loni Hancock (D-Oakland) will honor the work of Natural Home Cleaning Professionals as the 9th Senate District's 2009 Small Business of the Year. The 2009 California Small Business Day will be convened by the California Small Business Association, where legislators from both the State Senate and Assembly will recognize the contributions of small businesses throughout California. Awards will be presented at a luncheon ceremony scheduled between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 1230 J Street, Sacramento.

Natural Home Cleaning Professionals, established in 2003, is a Certified Green Business that provides eco-friendly house cleaning services throughout the San Francisco East Bay. It prides itself on using the least toxic cleaning products, protecting the health of its clients and workers, as well as the health of the planet. In addition to providing outstanding, environmentally sound cleaning services, it also provides healthy, dignified work opportunities to low-income immigrant women. Natural Home Cleaning Professionals, in partnership with WAGES (Women's Action to Gain Economic Security), uses a cooperative business model in which all members participate not only in cleaning services, but also participate jointly in key business decisions and share profits equitably. On May 25, 2000, California Small Business Day was unanimously passed by the California State Assembly as Resolution Number 5, in recognition of the importance of small business to the economy of the state.
