She is the undisputed queen of costume-dressing. In fact, she was once referred to as the golden girl of cutting-edge fashion.

But pop star Lady Gaga clearly look that literally as she stepped out in central London on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old star, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, appeared from the Langham hotel in London wearing a liquid gold-effect dress with matching head piece in her latest left-field look.

A dramatic floor-length number, the dress featured puffed sleeves with dramatic shoulderpads and a deep V-neck to reveal her cleavage.

She capped the interesting look with a pair of platform wedges and an intricate head piece which was worn over an Alice band with black netting.

With her blonde hair free-flowing underneath it, she looked positively radiant - and quirky - as she left the ITV studios near London's Southbank.

Spotted returning to her current base in the city - the Langham Hotel - she was greeted by hardcore fans who waited for a glimpse of their idol.

Happy to meet them, Gaga was seen posing for pictures and signing autographs before retiring to her room in the opulent venue.

Fortunately, Gaga's outfit matched the grandeur of the building perfectly.

Taking it in her stride: Lady Gaga managed to pull off the look - despite it being very outlandish

But this isn't the first wacky look she has unveiled during her stay in the city. On Tuesday she was seen wearing a mini dress which was screen-printed with the famous Leonardo da Vinci painting, Mona Lisa.

Walking down the steps of the famous hotel on Portland Place, Mayfair, Gaga held out one arm so that Mona Lisa's face could be visibly seen on the weighty-looking garment.

She appeared serene as she walked up towards her fans, even sporting a similar make-up to the enigmatic Italian beauty.

She adorned her eyes with a shade of coppery gold, which extended to the sides of her nose, and used a dark blush to contour the sides of her cheeks.

She completed the look with nude lipgloss, whilst fixing her honey brown lengthy extensions into a middle parting - just like the Mona Lisa, and left them loose to tumble down her torso.

On greeting her fans, she encountered one hysterical fan, who broke into tears on seeing her.

A few hours in, the star tweeted: 'LONDON MONSTERS, im gonna bring a leather outside that I want you to ARTPOP decorate. ill bring the paint pens. now i can wear u home w me'

The star is currently in London as she will be performing at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball on Sunday, having arrived from Tokyo, Japan, where she has been promoting her new album ARTPOP for the past few days.

And the Applause star said she cannot wait to get on stage at the O2 Arena for the Ball.

On Monday Gaga wrote on Twitter: 'ARTPOP on making outfit for Jingle Bell Ball see u soon London! Haus just told me to 'Abramovic these crystals' Long durational glue gunning.'

Last month Lady Gaga was also confirmed as the new face of Versace, as well as celebrating Thanksgiving with a TV special starring The Muppets.

The Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball 2013 kicks off on December 7 with lady Gaga set to perform on December 8 for the final night of the event.

ARTPOP ranked 1.108 million units during its first week of sale in the United States.

I hope Gaga has some long term hidden agenda, like she is going to speak out about what REALLY is required to achieve fame. For now she looks silly but unique in her own way. It's gotta end someday.
