Shopping for one: Catherine Zeta-Jones looks subdued on solo supermarket trip amid rumours she's reunited with Michael Douglas

She has remained quiet on the status of her marriage to Michael Douglas since the couple announced they were taking time out to ‘evaluate and work on’ their relationship in August.

Amid rumours the couple, who married in 2000, are back together Catherine Zeta-Jones was spotted on a solo supermarket shop on Wednesday.

The 44-year-old mother of two was dressed for the chilly New York weather as she pushed a trolley to her car but seemed lost in thought after her dramatic few months.

The Swansea born actress was dressed in skinny black trousers and a long coat with furry collar as she ran her errands.

Teaming her trousers with block heel ankle boots and a brown top, the brunette left her long locks loose and had sunglasses perched on her head as she emerged from the grocery store.

Catherine appeared in a contemplative mood as she wheeled her near empty trolley across the car park, following a difficult few months.

While there have been reports that Catherine is back with her ex husband, 69-year-old Douglas, there was no sign of the actor as Catherine headed off after completing her shop.

Catherine has been spotted wearing her wedding ring again in recent weeks, following the separation statement in August, with the sparkler seen on the actress' hand as she shopped on Wednesday.

Douglas has been hinting in recent interviews that the couple, who are parents to Dylan, 13, Carys, 10, have reconciled.

During an appearance on The Jay Leno show, the Romancing The Stone star added that talks between himself and Catherine have been going well.

‘Good I hope. I’ve been away for a while but everything should hopefully be on the up and up,' he said.

Alert the media! Yesterday I went shopping by myself to three different stores and it had nothing to do with my marriage, I did buy a six pack of beer for my hubby, though.

I think they still love eachother. They have had alot to deal with the past few years and they have each gotten older and grown into different stages of their lives and individuals. Good for them if they can make it work but if not, I am sure they gave it a good go.

Its fun shopping. Why hire your whole life away all the time. They probably do have a shopper or the grocery delivered at times. No matter how much money they earn, some things just don't need yo be given up for good.
