As any social media savvy celebrity worth their salt knows posting an obligatory selfie or two is a must to keep fans happy.

And on Friday, James Franco gave his legions of fans a special treat as he shared a rather revealing snap of himself.

The 35-year-old actor shared the saucy selfie in which he poses with just a bath towel tied around his waist, exposing his bare chest.

The Spring Breakers star captioned the picture, '#Almostnude - YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT'.

Hinting that he has been working out hard the 35-year-old hunk added: 'Tryna work that body, tryin' tryin'.'

Showing his popularity, the picture quickly amassed more than 45,000 'Likes' and prompted a slew of comments with many of the star's female fans swooning over him.

James is known for both his dry sense of humour and his love of social media, and the actor recently posted a hilarious spoof recreation of Kanye West's Bound 2 music video.

In the clip James plays the part of Kim Kardashian while Seth Rogen plays the part of Kanye West in a video they named 'Bound 3'.

The spoof proved a big hit on the internet and even Kim and Kanye seemed to appreciate the humour with Kim tweeting 31-yearold Seth saying, 'Kanye says what's up! He loves u guys! He laughed so hard at this.'

Social media antics aside the dark haired actor is busy working on his latest project - The Interview - and was seen on-set in Vancouver with his Bound 3 co-star Seth Rogen.

The multi-talented star took a break from filming on Friday to promote his second novel, Actors Anonymous.

Wearing a cream chunky knit cardigan with black detailing the actor looked very proud as he signed copies of the book which is a collection of twelve short stories inspired by the famed 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous.

I stopped liking him ever since he behaved so atrociously towards Anne Hathaway at the Oscars few years back. Arrogant and so full of himself, I'm surprised he is still working after that behaviour on live TV
