After getting critical backlash for her plunging jumpsuit at the Dallas show on Monday, Selena Gomez initially dressed down for the latest concert - but the laidback look didn't last for long.

The 21-year-old was extremely conservatively clothed in a white T-shirt and black patterned jeans when she arrived at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2013 in Los Angeles on Friday.

However, by the time she took to the stage to perform, she had transformed into a sexy burlesque-inspired costume.

With a sexy scarlet bodysuit covered in a black lace overlay, the former Disney star strutted across the stage in raunchy laced-up boots.

Selena completed her metamorphosis with a brunette bob wig, that was reminiscent of Catherine Zeta-Jones' retro style in Chicago.

Formerly fresh-faced on the red carpet, Selena clearly spent some time in the make-up chair before her energetic performance as she revealed heavily-blushed cheeks and dark, dramatic eyes.

With her hair hanging loose earlier in the night, the Slow Down singer looked like any other girl-next-door recently out of her teens when she walked the red carpet.

Instead of high heels, the 5ft 5in Disney darling wore chunky black and white trainers on her feet for the musical extravaganza at the Staples Center.

The prim and proper outfit was a sharp contrast to the cleavage-baring navy trouser suit by Zara that she wore at the Texas leg of the festive tour.

With a deep V that almost ran to her navel, Gomez was at serious risk of a wardrobe malfunction when she walked the red carpet.

In a recent Flaunt magazine interview, Selena admitted that she has made mistakes in the past - and they are not all related to her wardrobe.

'Obviously I’ve made a lot of mistakes because I’m human and I go through all of it,' she mused. 'I do think you do you have to make your own mistakes and they make you who you are,' she added.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, 21, made a star entrance at the Jingle Ball in a far less frumpy outfit than Justin Bieber's ex.

The Wrecking Ball singer rolled in wearing a cropped top that laced around her ribcage and showed off her stomach, with a long slim-fitting skirt.

The black genie-style outfit was carefully tied in the back and enhanced by Miley's flash of blonde hair and bright red lips.

Joining Gomez and Cyrus at the Los Angeles concert on Friday was Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, who kept warm in a fur vest with pink tints and slimming black trousers.

Also on attendance was TV personality Peta Murgatroyd, who joined the black trouser brigade.

Actress Madison Pettis braved the cold night in a black leather mini-dress and gladiator heels, while actor Brant Daugherty wisely wore a warm knitted cardigan, checked shirt and chunky work boots.

While the stars walked the red carpet, a bunch of hot groups hit the stage. Danish alternative band New Politics rocked out, with hunky lead singer David Boyd fulling engaging the enamoured crowd.

Gym Class Heroes rapper Travie McCoy belted out his beats at the charity concert, where a dollar from every ticket sold went to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.
