Pregnant in heels! Simon Cowell's girlfriend Lauren Silverman steps out in studded heels on a pre-baby shopping trip

She is due to give birth in February, but fashionable Lauren Silverman isn't ready to swap her studded stilettos for flat shoes just yet.

The mother-to-be was spotted with Simon Cowell on Saturday as the couple went shopping at Barneys in Beverly Hills.

Lauren, 36, appeared to be handling her second pregnancy with ease as she strode into the department store with her large baby bump leading the way and loyal Cowell behind her.

Wearing a white buttoned shirt and black trousers, the New York socialite - who already has an eight-year-old son from her former marriage - calmly made her way up the stone steps in the sparkling strappy sandals.

The American Idol judge wore his usual uniform of a black jumper and jeans as he carried a packet of menthol cigarettes and his mobile phone in his hand.

The plain outfit was a refreshing return to form after Simon wore a half unbuttoned shirt to dinner at Boa Steakhouse the night before, which showed a huge expanse of hairy chest.

After taking a limo on Friday night, the millionaire TV star drove his black convertible Bentley for Saturday afternoon's outing in Beverly Hills.

The couple were no doubt shopping for essentials before welcoming their son in February, and Cowell is more than ready for the total life change.

Speaking to Weekend magazine this month, he admitted that learning of Lauren’s pregnancy was 'like coming out of a fog' that made him feel low and lethargic.

'I'm having a baby and I never thought I would. And it totally changed everything,’ he said. 'It was like coming out of a fog; that’s the only way I can describe it. I thought, “Stop feeling sorry for yourself, you’ve got nothing to feel bad about.”

'It just makes you feel like you’ve got a responsibility. I definitely feel better.'

The reality TV guru is calm when he is with the love of his life, but he proved this week that his old confrontational side is still there when he branded Russell Brand a 'hypocrite' after he accused the comedian of accepting large Hollywood film salaries whilst campaigning against the UK political system.

According to The Mirror, music mogul Simon has told Russell to give up his multi-million pound salary if he is planning to continue his campaigning streak.

The-38-old Essex boy recently joined up with British activist group Anonymous as part of a global protest against austerity cuts and the disadvantages of the current economic system.

Later in the evening, Lauren and Simon were spotted leaving Cecconi's in West Hollywood, alongside Lauren's mum Carole Saland.

Looking radiant, Lauren's baby bump was highlighted in all its glory as she wore a form-fitting black dress for the occasion.

Simon was dressed in his signature white shirt and jeans combo as he exited with what may have been a doggy bag from the eaterie which has built an impressive roster of celebrity devotees, including Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, and the Dancing with the Stars cast.

Meanwhile Simon has also revealed that he is planning on starting a new dance show which will rival Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli and former panelist Alesha Dixon are rumoured to be involved with the new project called You Should Be Dancing.

Sources told the Sunday Mirror that the music mogul is ready to fight back after Strictly has been beating his show, The X Factor, in the ratings every week.

An insider said: 'He's coming back fighting with yet another format he thinks will be a winner.'

A pilot is likely to be showcased next year, with a further source adding: 'It is about dancing but it's undecided whether or not it will include celebrities, like Strictly.'

It is said that Simon also plans to extend the format overseas, like he did with The X Factor.

A source told the Mail Online: 'The company registers a number of names and is always developing new ideas for show formats.'

Last month Bruno refused to comment on whether Simon had signed him up for the show, after they were spotted leaving a restaurant together alongside Lauren.

At the time Bruno said: 'He's always got something up with sleeve. He wanted to buy Strictly a few years back. Why wouldn't he? It's a wonderful show.'

Spokesperson for Syco Entertainment declined to confirm or comment.

Simon has also been in the news recently after his Playboy ex model girlfriend Carmen Electra came out saying that she has forgiven him for her leaving her for Lauren.

The 41-year-old was said to be 'shocked and livid' earlier this year but told The Sun on Sunday that she now not bitter.

She said: 'I'm so happy he's filling his life with family. He's going to be a great dad.'
