Amanda Bynes was released earlier this week into the custody of her parents, following a stint in rehab for mental health issues.

And the 27-year-old appears to be getting back into the rhythm of normal life as she was spotted walking the family dogs with her mother Lynn and father Rick Bynes.

The trio strolled side-by-side as they each led a pooch down a quiet neighbourhood street in Thousand Oaks, California, on Saturday.

For the family outing, Amanda sported a blue graphic Captain America jumper and figure hugging skinny jeans.

The She's The Man star donned high top trainers for the leisurely stroll as she wore a snap back cap with the words 'Twerk Team' emblazoned above the visor.

Keeping hold of her white pooch on a short leash, the troubled former child star wore large sunglasses as her father kept warm in a hooded jacket.

Walking beside Rick was his wife Lynn, who sported a puffy snow jacket and grey denim trousers for the outing.

Meanwhile, Lynn and Rick are making sure to keep a watchful eye on their fragile daughter as they've been spotted over the last week taking her on household errands.

It has also emerged that Bynes has enrolled at the The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in the hopes of becoming a designer, reports TMZ.

Sources close to the website said the troubled starlet has enrolled at the private design school, registering under an alias for two classes at the Orange County campus.

Those close to her hope this will provide her with some structure on her road to recovery, reports TMZ

The former child star will allegedly be escorted to and from class.

But according to RadarOnline, Bynes has been advised by her psychiatrists not to attend school so soon after returning home.

'Amanda was told by her doctors that going to fashion school, so soon after being released from The Canyons, … [is] an absolutely terrible idea for [her] to do at this time - it’s almost setting her up for failure,' a source said.

'There will be pressure on Amanda as far as school work, deadlines, and it’s unlikely she will be able to succeed.' Leading the way: Amanda strolled ahead of her parents in the upmarket neighbourhood

The family's attorney Tamar Arminak told People: 'Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery.

'Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day.

Bynes was put on psychiatric hold after she started a fire on a driveway back in July, and was  transferred to the The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu in September after transferring from  UCLA hospital.

Mr Arminak said: 'Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She's very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared.'

Under the terms of her conservatorship, her mother Lynn will remain in indefinite control over her daughter's well-being and finances.

But Bynes is already facing legal troubles.

She failed to show up for a mandatory hearing at a New York court on Thursday, leaving the judge on the bong-tossing case 'irritated,' reports the NY Daily News.

'Where is the defendant?' Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Diana Boyar asked Bynes' attorney, Gerald Shargel. 'Is she still in the hospital?'

Shargel answered that she had been released from rehab and discharged into the custody of her parents, but could not be present for the hearing.

He did not give a reason why, and prosecutors were aware that she would be absent, reports the newspaper.

'Judge, we are not asking for a bench warrant,' Assistant District Attorney Laura Richenderfer said.

But the judge insisted that a warrant would be ordered if Bynes did not show up in court at the next scheduled hearing on January 10.

The case is in connection with an incident in May when Bynes allegedly threw a marijuana bong out of the window of her 36th floor apartment.

She was charged with reckless endangerment and attempted tampering with physical evidence.
