Jazz FM will leave the national Digital One DAB platform at the end of the year, switching to digital broadcast in Greater London only alongside its online platforms on January 1, 2014.

Speaking to RadioToday, the station’s CEO Richard Wheatly said that it could potentially lose 150,000 from its 700,000-strong audience as a result of the move.

“Most of our audience listen to us on digital radio in Greater London – 400,000 people – and around 30% are listening on platforms other than DAB across the UK,” he said.

RadioToday has also revealed that the station reached profitability last month for the first time since it relaunched.

Jazz FM will broadcast digitall in Greater London via the Switch Digital platform. The station has offered instructions on its website for those who want to keep listening.
