Actress Emma Thompson was more than happy to show off her slim figure in a skintight brown dress at the premiere of Saving Mr Banks in Los Angeles on Monday.

Her appearance comes after she opened up about the pressure on young actresses to be thin.

The 54-year-old told The Telegraph: ‘It seems young actresses are under pressure to look a particular way. They look the same, that’s the thing.’

Emma made her admission as she revealed it’s not just older actresses who have it tough. She continued: ‘They have to be this specific model size, and if they get on to the red carpet, they’re all having to walk like models and dress like models. I think the pressure is terrible.’

However the much-loved actress revealed she wouldn’t have put up with it herself, saying: ‘I’d have told them where to shove it. I’ve always been a card-carrying feminist. But in those days, I was fierce, fierce, very angry. So I wouldn’t have put up with a single bloody minute of that.’

Her angry feelings towards appearance in the film industry didn't stop her from having fun on the red carpet though, as she got playfully frisky with Tom Hanks.

The co-stars were playing for laughs, with the actor's wife Rita Wilson playing along as a second lady on her man's arm.

But it was not long before the trio could not hold it together any longer, and burst into helpless fits of laughter.

Tom, 57, looked dapper in a grey suit, while his other half wore a flamboyant black dress with golden shoes.

But Tom was not the only big name excited to see the Oscar winner, for she also gave a meaty embrace to Paul Giamatti, before chatting with a very jolly Julie Andrews.

Emma plays Mary Poppins author Pamela "P. L." Travers, while Tom plays the ultimate silver screen mogul Walt Disney in the forthcoming movie, which tells the story of how the classic movie was made.

It explores her fortnight-long stay in Los Angeles where she was persuaded by the cartoonist to let his company turn her novel into a film.

The film gets a limited US release on December 13 before a wider roll-out a week later.

Emma Thompson may be an annoying liberal/leftie luvvie off-screen, but she is a damned fine actress - and is looking smoking hot!

Emma is a brilliant actress and seems very nice but her constant kookiness is a bit tedious, particularly in interviews.
