Lourdes Leon seems to have picked up her mother's showbiz streak after she took to the stage as the oh-so-tough and sassy Betty Rizzo, from the famous 1978 Grease musical.

The 17-year-old daughter of Madonna starred in the LaGuardia Performing Arts school's production in Manhattan on Sunday and she looked quite the part.

The pretty brunette showed off her vocal abilities with her performances of classic tunes including Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee and There Are Worse Things I Could Do.

Lourdes enjoyed a series of costume changes throughout the performance.

She wore a 50s style polka-dot dress complete with red belt and matching strappy sandals on stage.

She later threw on a pink satin jacket, a printed sleeveless shirt and pedal pushers and bright red pumps to become one of the famous Pink Ladies as she sat in a mocked up café scene with some of her fellow students.

The young girl wore the same outfit without the jacket to belt out a singing number and to hug a male co-star in true 'Rizzo' style.

She looked confident as she sat with her arms outstretched and wore a dark wig.

Rizzo was originally played by Stockard Channing in the original movie (right).

In the show's programme, Lourdes' bio reads:

'She would like to thank her parents with all her heart for giving her guidance and love and supporting her passions wholeheartedly.'

Despite her busy schedule, US Weekly reports that 55-year-old Madonna went to Friday's show, with her daughter's father Carlos Leon, but they both kept a low profile in the auditorium.

NY Daily adds that Madonna laughed at some of her daughter's comical scenes and had a bunch of white roses in her lap.

Not doubt she intended to give the flowers to her eldest child, who she affectionately calls Lola, after the show.

Lourdes' siblings, Rocco, David and Mercy also came along to support their sister.

She shares the part with another student, Talia R. Bornstein, in the show which is running through to December 15th.

The publication also says an eyewitness praised Lourdes for her efforts.

They said: '[She was] really good.

'She is a great singer, dancer and actress and seemed completely comfortable on the stage.

'She also seemed like she was having a lot of fun with the part.'

It seems as if Lourdes is already thinking about her next step as E! website reports that she visited the University of Michigan with her mother last month.

Madonna used to study there before she moved to New York to become a pop star and has said that she would love her daughter to go there as well.

She told the NFL network in 2012: 'I want my daughter to go there. I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.'

MailOnline has contacted Madonna's spokesperson for comment.
