It was an evening to celebrate for many, but for one star the American Country Awards on Tuesday was a very emotional occasion.
LeAnn Rimes performed a tribute to her idol, Patsy Cline, and ended up breaking down in tears.
The singer, who looked gorgeous in a pink gown, couldn’t help but weep after belting out a medley of the late country star’s hits.

Emotional: LeAnn Rimes performed a tribute to Patsy Cline at the American Country Awards in Las Vegas on Tuesday
And it’s no surprise that LeAnn moved herself so much with the performance as she has a close connection to Patsy.
Not only has LeAnn’s singing voice been compared to Patsy’s, but her hit song Blue was intended for Patsy before she died in a 1963 plane crash.
In 1999 LeAnn released her fourth studio album which was made up largely of covers of Patsy’s songs, such as Crazy, I Fall To Pieces and She’s Got You.
Her idol: The singer performed a medley of the late country star's hits during the ceremony
Unable to contain it: After she finished singing, LeAnn wiped away tears and buried her face in her hands
Pretty in pink: The 31-year-old looked gorgeous for the occasion in a pink gown that clung to her slim figure
While she may be accustomed to
performing songs by the star, who was just 30 when she died 50 years
ago, it still became too overwhelming for LeAnn as she put her head in
her hands and wiped away tears.
The 31-year-old teamed her pale pink dress, which clung to her slim figure, with lots of jewellery and wore her blonde locks in a sleek bun.
While LeAnn wasn’t nominated for any awards, some of the big winners that night weren’t present to collect their trophies.
Her idol: LeAnn's hit song Blue was originally intended for Patsy and the pair's singing voices sound similar
Gone too soon: Patsy was just 30 years old when she tragically died in a plane crash in 1963
Touched: As the crowd cheered for LeAnn, she couldn't help but blub and wasn't afraid to be vulnerable
Twice as nice: LeAnn arrived in a black and gold sequined gown, then changed into the pink creation
Blake Shelton scooped three of the top gongs at the ceremony, but the artist wasn’t even there to pick them up.
Instead,
the singer was busy at The Voice semi-finals, which saw his contestant
Cole Vosbury get knocked out just shy of next week’s finals.
But no doubt even though he couldn’t be at the event, Blake would have been delighted to win Best Single By A Male Artist, Best Music Video By A Male Artist and Album Of The Year.
Big winners: Brian Kelley (L) and Tyler Hubbard couldn't believe their luck when their band Florida Georgia Line won a whopping six awards
We did it!: Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum celebrated after winning Group Of The Year
Starting things with a bang: Lady Antebellum opened the show, performing their song Compass
Shocked and delighted: Luke Bryan posed proudly with his awards for for Artist Of The Year, Male Artist Of The Year, and Touring Artist Of The Year
His wife Miranda Lambert, who won
Best Female Artist Of The Year, and Carrie Underwood, who scooped the
prize for Best Music Video By A Female Artist, also snubbed the event.
Fortunately, Florida Georgia Line, who were the biggest winners of the night, did make an appearance.
The band, consisting of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, won a whopping six awards during the evening, with four wins for their single Cruise.
Something to celebrate: Scotty McCreery accepted his guitar trophy for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year
Check it out: Randy Houser was understandably delighted to win an award for the Most Played Radio Track: Male
Thanks very much: Brad Paisley already had his signature paisley guitar with him but was excited to collect his guitar trophy for the Video Visionary award from Dwight Yokum
Taking charge: Danica Patrick and Trace Adkins were co-hosts for the evening at the Mandalay Bay Events Center
The duo proudly took home guitar trophies for Best Radio Track By A New Artist, Best Single By A New Artist, Best Music Video By A New Artist, Radio Track Of The Year, New Artist Of The Year and Single Of The Year.
Lady Antebellum celebrated together after winning the much coveted Group Of The Year and Best Single By A Group awards.
It was a great evening for the trio, consisting of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, as they had also kicked off the show with a spectacular performance of their song Compass.
What happens in Vegas...: Danica also stripped off and displayed her showgirl skills while making the most of Sin City
Shining star: While Trace wore variations of the same outfit, Danica sported a slew of glamorous looks
Hat's nice: The pair proved their country credentials with the help of some Stetsons
Unable to attend: While Dwight got to present an award to Brad, Olivia Newton John showed up to present to Taylor Swift but the young pop star wasn't there
Full of sparkle: Kellie Pickler shimmered in a fringed blue dress while singing her hit Little Bit Gypsy
Luke Bryan was also reeling after
taking home three trophies for Artist Of The Year, Male Artist Of The
Year, and Touring Artist Of The Year.
Highway Don’t Care, by Tim McGraw and featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, won Song Of The Year and Best Vocal Collaboration Single.
Elsewhere, Scotty McCreery won the Breakthrough Artist award, but Lee Brice won Single By A Breakthrough Artist for his hit I Drive Your Truck.
Teamwork: Darius Rucker (L) and Sheryl Crow shared a kiss after performing on stage together
Pecs appeal: Dan King ripped his shirt open while speaking on stage with Carrie Keagan
A big night for country stars: Chris Young and Jewel were amongst the presenters at the exciting awards show
Rocking out: The audience were screaming and waving their hands in the air as Jake Owen and Billy Gibbons played together
The Best Music Video by a Duo/Group/Collaboration gong was awarded to Rascal Flatts for Come Wake Me Up.
Meanwhile, Olivia Newton John showed up to present Taylor Swift with the special Worldwide Artist award.
But unfortunately Taylor had to say thanks via video message as she is currently in Australia for her RED tour.
Having a ball: Cowboy Troy (L) and Big Smo were having a great time as they addressed the excited audience
Bullseye: Rodeo star Trevor Brazile and his wife Shada got the chance to present during the evening
Going glamorous: While many guests were clad in cowboy hats, Shawna and Kiefer Thompson of Thompson Square dressed to impress
And the winner is...: Joe Buck rounded off the stars presenting the highly coveted awards
