Juliette Lewis heats up freezing New York in blue and white lace mini dress for appearance on Good Morning America

The mercury's set at a steady zero in New York.

But Juliette Lewis didn't seem to feel the cold as she arrived in Times Square to make an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

Wearing just a sleeveless mini dress and black tights, the 40-year-old actress showed off her fabulously toned figure as she greeted onlookers before heading into the studio.

The Natural Born Killers star looked radiant, her youthful complexion and green eyes complimented by her shiny red mane and a slick of dark pink lipstick.

Wearing little jewellery, Juliette accessorised with a pair of gold peep-toe heels, which gave her slim legs a flattering lift.

Her black dress, which featured striking white embroidery, flattered her narrow waist but did little to protect her from the chilly weather and she was finally forced to don a heavy black coat.

Chatting to host Robin Roberts, Juliette spoke about aging and of the importance of nurturing oneself as one grows older.

'Once you're passed your 20s... all you've got is time. Do the thing you love,' she urged. 'Nurture your soul and nurture your loves.'

And in taking her own advice, she declared she will be turning her attention back to music for a while.

'I'm going to get back to it,' she said of her band, Juliette And The Licks. 'It's been three years because now I'm making movies again.'

Lewis was on GMA to promote her latest film, August: Osage County, which follows the members of a dysfunctional family as they return to their home in Oklahoma after a family tragedy.

Co-produced by George Clooney, the flick boasts an all-star cast, including Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch and Dermot Mulroney.

She even joked about the fact that she gets to play the 'pretty sister,' despite appearing alongside Roberts.

'I'm the one who focuses on her appearance. I'm the pretty sister. Julia does a really amazing job, her character's going through a really tough time and she's not supposed to be dolled up.'

'It's different, because it's not something we've seen from her and it's not something we've seen from me.'

During her time on the Good Morning America set, Juliette Lewis shared a series of snaps, including one of Emma Thompson, who was also a guest on the show.

Lewis also treated her fans to a couple of 'selfies' while on set.

She looks great, but I thought she was born in the sixties,and thus way into her forties. But wiki confirms that she was born in '73 so we'll go with that.
