'It's complete nonsense': One Direction's Harry Styles hits back at reports claiming he plans to 'record a solo album in 2014'

It had been claimed he'd planned to break free from his One Direction bandmates to record a solo album in the coming year.

But a spokesperson for Harry Styles has hit back at the rumours, slamming reports suggesting the 19-year-old singer plans to work on his own projects in 2014 as 'complete nonsense'.

A representative for the chart-topping boyband told MailOnline: 'It's complete nonsense, of course.'

VH1's The Gossip Table panellist, HollywoodLife.com reporter Chloe Melas, had previously claimed the teen heartthrob was keen to brand out from his bandmates - Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik - next year to work on an individual record.

Speaking on The Gossip Table, she said: 'One Direction performed on Saturday Night Live over the weekend and their new album Midnight Memories is currently number one in the UK. It looks like a recipe that's going correctly.

'Simon Cowell, if you remember, paired all the boys together because separately they weren't as strong. But together they're stronger.

'I spoke to a music insider who told me Harry definitely wants to record a solo album in 2014. It doesn't mean he's going to leave One Direction fully though.'

Chloe pointed to the example of Harry staying in a different hotel to the rest of the boys when he was spotted with reality star Kendall Jenner in New York City over the weekend.

She expanded on her claims: 'Bear in mind when One Direction were in New York City over the weekend and Harry had his tryst with Kendall, he stayed at the Gansevoort Hotel.

'But the other band members stayed at another hotel, so he's already separated himself.'

But Chloe's The Gossip Table co-panellists were quick to point out that the quintet will spend much of next year on a worldwide arena tour, leaving Harry with very little time to pursue a solo project.

She hit back: 'When there's a will, there's a way. There have been rumblings about this for a while. Harry's rep is saying it's not true, but my source is very close to Harry.'

A spokesperson for One Direction previously told One Direction: 'Harry is not recording solo material. All of the band are working on tracks for their third album. Harry is putting together some ideas for the record.

'The boys sometimes work up ideas separately as well as working together, as they did last year. Niall for example recently collaborated with Tom and Dougie from McFly on new tracks.'

Harry probably would be a nobody today if it were not for all 5 of them, each with their own talents and characters that contributed to their against all odds incredible success as a compliment. The strongest voice in the group is Zayn, the best tone is Niall, the most soothing is Louis and the most reliable voice is Liam, Harry is not one direction and one direction is not Harry.

if any of them went solo and took to making music organically rather than at the mercy of a bunch of lazy, spineless, artless producers who cant come up with anything other than ripping off hits from thirty years ago, one directions brand of fake rock will be the last thing they will ever want to do again.

You people do know you can make a solo album and still be in the band? Look at Big Bang, every member has at least 2 or more solo albums and they still make comebacks as a GROUP. Solo album doesn't equal disbandment. If Harry did a solo album , I would support it all the way. I personally think they all members should make solo albums to show full potential of their voices that's not exposed in the songs they make with the band.
