'F*** those nominations! It's patronising': Kanye West goes on furious rant during his concert after Yeezus gets two Grammy nods

While most musicians would be delighted with a Grammy nomination, Kanye West was disappointed to get just two of them for next year's ceremony.

The 36-year-old rapper is in the running for Best Rap Album for his sixth studio record, Yeezus, and Best Rap Song for New Slaves, at the awards which recognise outstanding achievement in the music industry in 2013.

However, Kanye - who describes himself as a 'creative genius' - thinks his album should receive more recognition because it's been a chart success.

Kanye went on a furious rant during one of his concerts on Tuesday night, shouting: 'F*** those nominations! It’s all but only patronising. It’s only patronizing. Don’t patronise me. I would have rather had no nominations.'

He told the crowd at his show at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona: 'Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list but only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?'

The Bound 2 hitmaker has amassed a more than respectable 53 Grammy nominations and 21 wins in his career. But that apparently isn't enough for the star.

'I’m 36-years-old and I have 21 Grammys,' he said. 'That’s the most Grammys of any 36-year-old. Out of all those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. Now let’s bring it back to the Michael Jackson days when he couldn’t get his video to be played because he was "urban".

'So when the Grammy nominations come out and Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?

'Did they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that, someway, I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?'

Kanye added: 'When you see me talking about what people are doing when I say "marginalized", when I say "boxed in," when I say, "hold back," when I say people are afraid of the truth, that’s one example right in front of you. And people come to me and they congratulate me on those two nominations

He hasn't won an award for anything outside the rap and R'n'B categories, though he insists that doesn't bother him and previously said: 'I haven't won one against a white person. I don't care about the Grammys. I just would like for the statistics to be more accurate.'

His rapper pal Jay Z - with whom he collaborated on 2011 album Watch The Throne - leads the way with nine nominations for his latest offering, Magna Carta... Holy Grail.

However, he was also left out in the cold when it comes to the top categories: Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year.

Kanye appeared down in the dumps as he hit upscale retailer Barney's New York in Beverly Hills on Wednesday with fiancée Kim Kardashian and her mom, Kris Jenner.

The singer had a perma-scowl on his face as they headed to the car following their shopping expedition.

Fortunately, he managed to crack a smile earlier in the day as he joined both women for The Hollywood Reporter's 22nd Annual Women In Entertainment Breakfast, enjoying a chat with the likes of Oprah Winfrey at the bash.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on January 26.

He cries because he still will never be as good as Run DMC and will always be in their shadow as his music would never have been commerically accepted if they hadn't come along. Grandmaster Flash and his ilk were the trailblazers, Run DMC made rap acceptable and accessible. West can never and will never be able to reach that high mark of being a true pioneer. All those clothes designing? Even Fatman Scoop was doing that before him.

This guy needs a reality check. I dont listen to his music, i dont like rap/hip hop or whatever you want to call it. I'm a metal guy and none of my bands ever get nominated for awards due to the lack of popularity amongst the general populous.. However, the album received nominations. Is that not good enough? If you get annoyed at people heckling you, swear at your staff, dont like nominations, your truely in the wrong business my friend.

I am no fan of Kanye. His attitude is rather irritating and his choice of women is sorry. However, 53 Grammy nominations and 21 wins for a rapper is impressive. By the way Yeezus deserves no nomination in by opinion.

Well, if you'd rather have zero nominations, I'm sure they'll take them back and give them to someone more appreciative. At the very least, he's guaranteed not to win now. And again, where is the class and good taste Kanye claims to have????

Kanye should be thanking his lucky stars that he got two nominations! The album Yeezus is rubbish and the song Black Slaves is a bunch of yelling and ranting -just like his concerts. I don't think he deserved one nomination, let alone two! He never acts professional at times like this.
