'I thought about sex to try and stop the tears!' LeAnn Rimes reveals the trick that helped her through her emotional Patsy Cline tribute

She broke down in tears as she performed an emotional tribute to singer Patsy Cline.

And afterwards LeAnn Rimes revealed the very unusual mental trick she used to help her through the moment.

'I was thinking about sex a lot through the whole thing!' she admitted in an interview after her performance at the American Country Music Awards on Tuesday night.

Speaking backstage to Entertainment Tonight, the singer said: 'My guitar player, he’s always giving me the trick that works, he’s like, always think about sex when you start to cry.

'And I was thinking about sex a lot through the whole thing. By the end of it, it was just such an emotional moment for me.'

'It was intense… She’s touched so many people. Then about halfway through Crazy you see people who start to cry and then you’re like, oh my God,' Rimes said.

The singer, who looked gorgeous in a pink gown, couldn’t help but weep after belting out a medley of the late country star’s hits.

While she may be accustomed to performing songs by the star, who was just 30 when she died 50 years ago, it still became too overwhelming for LeAnn as she put her head in her hands and wiped away tears.

The 31-year-old teamed her pale pink dress, which clung to her slim figure, with lots of jewellery and wore her blonde locks in a sleek bun.

And it’s no surprise that LeAnn moved herself so much with the performance as she has a close connection to Patsy.

Not only has LeAnn’s singing voice been compared to Patsy’s, but her hit song Blue was intended for Patsy before she died in a 1963 plane crash.

In 1999 LeAnn released her fourth studio album which was made up largely of covers of Patsy’s songs, such as Crazy, I Fall To Pieces and She’s Got You.

Does she think it is appropriate to tell everyone she was thinking of sex whilst performing a tribute to her idol? What next, imagining herself sitting on the toilet whilst singing "Are you Lonesome tonight". No, that would never do, as it is not sexy enough for this dingbat. She seems compelled to appear as this super-sexed woman who is obviously so insecure about her actual sex appeal that she has to talk about it/smoulder at her hubby's childrens' sports events, and generally vamp it up to the stage of being a total laughing stock. It used to be that this sort of news becomes fish and chip wrapping tomorrow...now it will just be online ridicule ..... forever.

Does she think this makes her edgy to talk about.....whisper it....S.E.X, Good grief woman stop being so cringe-worthy in your need to feel super sexed for your hubby....it's so tomorrow night's fish and chip wrapping.
