Eco-warrior chic! Supermodel Amber Valletta chosen as the new face of H&M's sustainable Conscious collection

With a passion for sustainability and a house decked out with solar panels, Amber Valletta is the perfect choice to front H&M's eco-friendly Conscious collection.
The California-based model and actress, 39, will promote the retailer's 2014 womenswear line via a global advertising campaign.
Behind-the-scenes footage from the campaign photoshoot - uploaded to YouTube yesterday - offers a sneak-peek of the items set for sale.

In one frame Ms Valletta is seen wearing a summery orange loose-fitted dress and in another clip, a high-collar embellished blouse.
Materials such as organic cotton, hemp and recycled textiles were used to craft the pieces. They will be available on the H&M website and in stores from April 10 2014 onwards.
Commenting on her latest modeling assignment, Ms Valletta said in a press release: 'I’m very excited to work with the H&M Conscious campaign, because we share the same values about sustainability.
'This collection shows that you can be as mindful about people and the environment as fashion conscious.

'I simply love the designs and the fact that all the pieces are made with organic, recycled and cellulose fabrics shows that you don’t need to compromise fashion for sustainability anymore.'
H&M worked with the London-based sustainable fashion and design think tank, Ever Manifesto, to craft 'dramatic' and 'intricately detailed' pieces, described as 'flamenco meets Bohemia.'
It isn't the first eco-friendly fashion project, mother-of-one, Ms Valletta has worked on this year.
This summer she teamed up with Yoox.com to launch Master & Muse, a collection of 200 eco-friendly pieces that range from hats to handbags to sweaters to jewelry.

She follows in the footsteps of Vanessa Paradis as the new face of H&M's Conscious line.
Last February, the retailer boosted recognition of the collection by dressing Michelle Williams in a gown from the line for the BAFTA Awards.
Les Miserables star Amanda Seyfried also wore an outfit from label to a London film premiere in October 2012.
The clothing line, which includes menswear and childrenswear, is part of H&M’s 'ongoing commitment to a more sustainable fashion future.'
