There are not many directors who would swap Claire Danes for Great Danes.

But that is just what happened after a company decided to spoof hit spy drama Homeland with an hilarious canine-themed parody.

In the film fans get to see the doggie equivalent of Carrie mull over her missing pooch Brody, before eventually taking on a secret puppy terrorism group.

The Barkbox video opens much like the latest series of the Golden Globe winning show, with Carrie examining a board full of reported sightings of her love Brody.

One slight change however is the fact that Claire Danes has been swapped for a yellow Labrador.

After an interlude in which a Scottie dog version of Saul Berenson insists that she takes her medication, she eventually meets up with her favourite pooch.

The pair give each other a good lick before he reveals he has grave news as they growl in an interrogation room - there is a new terrorist cell on the loose.

As if the stakes were not high enough, it soon turns out the evil plotters are in fact a litter of puppies.

Carrie does a bit of digging, and decides to capture them under the watchful eye of a Pomeranian pooch who warns her 'be careful out there, damn it,' as she decides to go for broke.

Luckily everything goes to plan, or at least it seems it does, as it comes to an abrupt close as the Labrador jumps around while the subtitles read, 'I caught you, I caught you.'

As if the shaggy dog story was not exciting enough, Homeland itself has its third season finale on Showtime on Sunday.

LOL @ "When am I gonna get a storyline, I'm Chris by the way" So true. The boy that never speaks. I kind of hope he's going to go nuts with a machine gun by the end of the series.

It would probably be one of the more believable series on TV these days.

Carrie Mathison has turned into the most annoying character going. Nearly unwatchable. Awful emotional acting. She does 10 emotions on her face for every scene. Come on the terrorists, blow her up.

I don't even understand why you would do this, but I found it funny. Giggle worthy a the very least.
