A wacky green hairdo is for life apparently, and not just for Christmas.

On Friday the 27-year-old performer was seen stomping to a photo shoot sporting hair still green from her Christmas tree outfit earlier in the week.

The Born This Way singer was spotted in chilly Chicago where she was taking part in a shoot with the controversial yet acclaimed photographer Terry Richardson.

Gaga - real name Stefanie Joanne Angelina Germanotta - was accompanied by her usual entourage as she pulled up in an SUV with blacked out windows at the Alder planetarium on Friday.

Fittingly, given the choice of venue for the shoot, Gaga had a distinctly out of this world look as she trotted along in her favourite black patent high heeled boots.

And while her hair was still green, the longer locks she's been showing off in emerald hue all week were short and two tone; though this may just mean extensions out rather than a chop.

The singer showed off her new hairdo - a short dark bob with the front section dyed bright green as she huddled up in her black fur coat which she teamed with a pair of black skinny jeans.

Looking to be devoid of make-up the quirky star covered up with a pair of black sunglasses.

With her other worldly look - even before being made up for the shoot - it seemed fitting that Gaga's shoot with Terry Richardson was taking place in the world's oldest planetarium.

The singer and Richardson recently worked together with the 48-year-old directing the music video with R+B singer R Kelly.

From a black and white image released by the director it looked as though Gaga and R-Kelly were reprising their recent AMA performance as an almost nude Gaga straddles the R+B star.

The pair recently teamed up for a wild performance at the AMAs where Gaga played a sexy secretary to Kelly's cigar-smoking president.

And from the racy shot shared by Richardson, who has come under fire for being overly seedy, it seems the stars are set to up the raunchiness stakes in their new video.
