She's only been a certified driver for a matter of days.

But it seems Adele already has grand plans for her new skill - namely taking part in world-famous motoring show Top Gear.

According to the singer's driving instructor Noel Gaughan, mother-of-one Adele voiced her dream of appearing on the programme as one of their 'stars in a reasonably priced car' just after passing the test.

Noel said: 'Adele is a gifted driver and what she really wants is to be on Top Gear, with my encouragement. We discussed it and it's a dream.'

Other famous faces who have appeared on the show include Ewan McGregor, and James McAvoy - who also passed his test after tuition from 'instructor to the stars' Noel.

Noel added to The Sun: 'She was ecstatic when she passed. I nearly cried when I saw how much it meant to her.'

After passing her test on Friday, during which she received only one minor, Adele said: 'Noel is Dumbledore of roads. Could not have done it without him and his jokes changed my life.'

While Noel admits he didn't know who Adele was, even when she started singing at the wheel, he also revealed that he was unaware he had One Direction's Niall Horan in his car as well, until they pulled up at traffic lights and were surrounded by screaming girls.

The father-of-one said: 'I was teaching Niall and I just thought he was an ordinary lad. But wherever we pulled over there were girls taking pictures and surrounding the car. That made it difficult.

Noel had never listened to Mumford And Sons before he helped double bassist Edward Dwain get his licence.

Nor had he seen the film Notting Hill before actor Rhys Ifans climbed into his car.

And It was only when he got chatting to X-Men star James McAvoy, singer Mika and Bond girl Gemma Arterton he found out they were all in showbusiness.

'Mika was hilarious, and he eats like a horse for someone so small. He always had a sandwich.

'James McAvoy was a really sweet guy and it was great seeing him on Top Gear. Rhys Ifans is the funniest pupil I've had. When we got to the test centre he walked up to the examiner and said "Shall I drop my pants now?".'

He said: 'I didn't set out to get this niche, I think it's just word of mouth. I've already got a few more celebrities booked in.

'A couple more of the other One Direction boys are looking to pass their tests still, so they have given me a call.'

The 46-year-old has been running driving school Intensive Courses with wife Gaynor from his home in Bishop Stortford for more than 20 years.

Other star drivers to have been taught by Noel include supermodel Lara Stone, Captain America actress Hayley Atwell and Stereophonics drummer Javier Weyler.

The grateful stars have written their own words of praise for Noel on his website, www.intensive courses.co.uk.

Lara wrote: 'I have never driven before and I only started driving eight days ago and have just passed my test. It hasn't sunk in yet, it's a great feeling, I loved every minute of my lessons.'

is this a british thing? In the US we start driving when we are 14 and can drive on our own at 16. It is certainly taboo to wait until one is older than 16 to start driving. Maybe we just mature faster on this side of the Atlantic.

Adele is a product of the Brit School production line of manufactured garbage. Ditto for Jessie J who was in the same class as her at Brit School. Leona Lewis was also in the class and I think the 3 of them sat next to each other for one of the subjects, maths I think it was. Real talent does not come from the Brit School. Amy Winehouse, another Brit School manufactured product was also highly overrated. Brit school now plays second fiddle to the X-factor production line which is even worse.
