Another day, another Miley Cyrus controversy and yet again it's to do with her exposing her body parts.

On Saturday, Miley posted a photo of herself on Twitter lifting up her top with two heart-shaped 'Merry Christmas' signs stuck over where her exposed breasts would otherwise be.

'Merry Christmas. Thank You New York for being one of the few states to @freethe nipple', she tweeted.

After a fury of activity over her posting of the photo, Miley added a new tweet one hour later insisting: 'It's not about getting your t*****s out. It's about equality.'

Pretty much the whole of 2013 has been all about Miley and her notorious antics, since her twerking antics with Robin Thicke during her career-changing MTV VMA performance.

The new Christmas Twitter flash is just the latest incident, following on from her performance on Friday evening at Z100's Jingle Ball 2013 in New York where she twerked with a Christmas tree onstage.

The 21-year-old was watched by thousands whilst she shook her pert bottom in front of a lady dressed as the festive tree and covered in silver tinsel and baubles.

She may have had to run but Miley still had time to stop and sign autographs for her waiting fans

Looking incredibly festive herself in a sexy Santa outfit, Miley opted for a pair of sparkly red hotpants, a matching sparkly red crop top with white fur-trim sleeves, and finished off the look with a pair of white, fluffy pompom earrings.

Her whole posse of backing dancers were also dressed in Christmas-inspired clothing, from white reindeer to Father Christmas himself.

The Wrecking Ball star was clearly excited by the performance, writing on Twitter ahead of the event: 'Almost Bad Santa time! Just one final @eos touch up by @freakabritt before we hit the stage!!'

Miley was asked only last week what her highlight of 2013 has been.

'Everyone else's, I think, biggest moment of me was the VMAs,' she admitted. 'That was probably my biggest moment, too. I was pretty stoked to perform there.'

Given just how well-publicised her scantily-clad twerking antics alongside the father-of-one ended up being, she was asked whether she would return to the scene of the crime next year and try to top it.

'I doubt they're ever gonna ask me back,' she laughed. 'But just kidding... I don't know. That was before my record [Bangerz] even came out, so, I mean, it was the beginning of what I was showing people what I was gonna do.

'It kind of just opened so many doors for me to be like, alright, I already p****d you off as much as I possibly can, so now I can kind of just be freer and kind of do whatever it is that we want to do.'

Miley is currently riding high after being announced as the final performer at the annual New Year's Rockin' Eve festivities, taking to the stage just moments before the giant ball drops.

Milly Cyrus is the perfect role model for girls and boys today because she leads by example and says if you have a talent it doesnt matter about your upbringing anybody can make it with a bit of dedication and hard work!!! also she is not afraid to speak her mind and has the self confidence levels of someone twice her age so anyone hating on her needs to crawl back under the rock that they live under!!!

Even though I don't agree with everything that Miley does, she is killing it at the moment $150 Mil in the bank number one hit singles, and everyone is talking about her at the age go 20!

She's right about the equality thing. Breasts have been sexualized, but they're essentially just fatty tissue on a chest. Still, some people don't understand this, and start behaving like wild apes in heat whenever they see breasts. I don't listen to Cyrus, but I read some of her interviews, and it seems that she knows exactly what the entertainment business is about, and she's screwing with them because she can. She knows that media sources will eat this crap up with their double standards. She gets blamed for dancing like this, but not the male performers (like Thicke). The media wants shock value so that they can print it and sell it, and she's getting publicity. It's just her job. She didn't sign up to be anyone's role model.
