If this acting thing doesn't work out...Cara Delevingne shakes things up as a cocktail waitress on her day off from filming in Italy

On Saturday night, model/actress Cara Delevingne was busy trying out her newfound skills as a cocktail waitress in a pub in Perugia, Italy, pouring drinks to actual clients.

Looking as cool as ever in her Hype hat and super chic noughts and crosses top, Cara was keeping herself busy on one of her days off from filming her new movie, The Face Of An Angel.

While 21-year-old Cara has made no secret of the fact that she is keen to pursue a career in acting, little did anyone suspect that she also had drink mixing as a fallback.

Cara's new film, The Face Of An Angel, is the latest from Michael Winterbottom and controversially rather loosely based on the trial of American student Amanda Knox for the alleged murder of Meredith Kercher in 2009.

Cara plays Melanie, a young Englishwoman whom she previously described as ‘an independent spirited girl’.

‘The idea I had of her is that she’s like me and a lot of my friends who are 21 and travelling around Europe,’ she told the Daily Mail.

Melanie meets a film-maker, Thomas – played by Daniel Bruhl – who is going through a mid-life crisis as he prepares to make a picture about the murder of a British student in Tuscany. He’s working alongside Simone (Beckinsale) when he meets Melanie in a bar, which perhaps is where Cara's new drink mixing skills have arisen from.

‘There’s something about her that captivates him,’ Cara said. ‘It’s very innocent. He’s missing his daughter, and he’s taken by her.’

Melanie is taking an Italian cultural course, which is something the British star would also like to do: ‘Funnily enough, that’s what I’d love to do, and this part is a perfect excuse to learn Italian. I’ve picked up very little, but I’d like to learn more.'

The willowy model has so far had small roles  in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina and Kids In Love, which she shot in London in the late summer, but this marks her biggest part to date.

Speaking about casting Cara director Winterbottom said: ‘As you can see, Cara’s full of energy, and she’s perfect for the part of someone who has all the possibilities of life: innocence, beauty, truth and joy.‘Cara embodies what can be enjoyed in life. It’s what makes Thomas, in the film, understand what life is.

Although Miss Delevingne revealed in a recent interview with iD magazine that she is insecure about her body and would like to add some curves to her hips, her godmother does not agree.

And when your godmother is Joan Collins, you take the praise to heart.#

She doesn’t need any advice,’ Ms Collins said about Cara in an interview with the Daily Express last week.

‘She is the most natural and down-to-earth girl you could ever meet. You would never believe she is a top model. I am very proud and I think it is wonderful what she has done.'
