Still Mad-ly in love! Jon Hamm showers girlfriend of 16 years Jennifer Westfeldt with a hug and kiss... and appears to go commando once again

They have been dating for 16 years, yet never married.

But Jon Hamm's relationship with longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, is hotter than ever.

The 42-year-old Mad Men star treated his ladylove to the perfect date on Tuesday - a shopping trip to high-end Barneys New York in Beverly Hills.

The icing on top of the cake was when Jon drew Jennifer in for a warm embrace and then a full-on kiss in view of the valet staffers and shoppers alike.

The couple looked like they hadn't a care in the world beyond their heavy lip lock.

Jon looked nothing like the sleek-haired suited ad man he plays on the award-winning AMC series.

The six foot two actor - who hails from St Louis, Missouri - was California cool in slightly cuffed blue jeans, a casual white button-down shirt and brown boots.

Once again, the handsome star appeared to had gone commando.

While co-star Christina Hendricks has spoken about the 'authentic and meticulous' underwear selection on hand on set that has help her perfect her Joan Holloway wiggle, Jon is thought to be not a fan of the accoutrements.

In fact, earlier this year there were rumours that the star did in fact prefer to go 'commando' underneath his costumes.

Jon had apparently been at the centre of a few awkward wardrobe moments on set, causing quite the stir among staff with his rather impressive anatomy.

The New York Daily News reported that during filming of the sixth season of the show, Jon was 'politely instructed by a staffer at the [AMC] network to please wear underwear while shooting his scenes.'

The source added: 'This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination. Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.'

Apparently, he also caused a stir while filming the show in Hawaii where he sported 'tiny shorts' for several scenes.

Addressing the frenzy over his body for the April issue of Rolling Stone, Jon said he was fed up with people obsessing over his manhood.

'They're called "privates" for a reason,' he said in the article.

'I'm wearing pants, for f***'s sake. Lay off. I mean, it's not like I'm a f***ing lead miner. There are harder jobs in the world.

'But when people feel the freedom to create Tumblr accounts about my c***, I feel like that wasn't part of the deal...But whatever. I guess it's better than being called out for the opposite.'

The Bridesmaids hunk continued: 'Most of it's tongue-in-cheek, but it is a little rude. It just speaks to a broader freedom that people feel like they have - a prurience.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Jon also went for a relaxed look with his hair, which was naturally fluffed with one strand handsomely falling across his forehead above his shaded eyes.

He even sported some greyish facial fuzz, a sign that he hadn't shaven in a day or two.

As his Mad Men make-up artist Lana Horochowski revealed to OK! Magazine in October, Jon often has to shave two and sometimes three times a day on the set for his role as suave Don Draper.

No doubt Jon was glad to give his close-edged razor the day off during his afternoon excursion.

Jennifer, 43, was likewise dressed down in jeans, a pale peach knit top and brown boots, and she wore her strawberry-blonde hair long and straight.

It looks like Jon and Jennifer found something they liked at Barneys New York, as the actor was spotted leaving the department store with a large bag in his grasp.

Although the couple has been in a relationship since 1997, Jon feels no urge to walk down the aisle.

'I don't have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest examples of marriages in our families,' Hamm explained in an interview with Parade magazine in 2010.

'But Jen is the love of my life, and we've already been together four times longer than my parents were married.'

His career seems to be going full steam as well and he will next be seen in the sports drama Million Dollar Arm, due out in US theatres on May 14, 2014.

Jon will also be voicing a character in the forthcoming animated movie The Minions.
