The Voice may have its most talented finalists ever.

But this season's penultimate show on Monday was its lowest rated finale so far.

And it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Judges and mentors Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green teamed up to perform the Def Leppard classic Pour Some Sugar On Me to kick off the show, and each finalist performed three times.

But the extravaganza appeared to be a flop, as the show scored a 3.3 rating that was down 21 percent from the equivalent season three finale on Dec. 17, 2012, according to Deadline.

A single national ratings point is the equivalent of about 1,142,000 households for the 2012-13 television season.

The season five performance finale on Monday was also down 11 percent from the season four finale which aired on June 17.

The show's ratings also dropped a tenth of a point from the Monday show a week prior on December 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The program was, however, the top rated show on television on Monday night with its 3.3 rating, and NBC was the top network with an average 3.0 among adults ages 18 to 49 and 11.1 million viewers.

The winner of The Voice will be announced on Tuesday night with either Christina or Adam as the winning coach.

Christina went into the finals with 16-year-old Jacquie Lee, while Adam was loaded with powerful Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin and Los Angeles singer Will Champlin, whose father was a singer for the rock group Chicago.

The three finalists on Monday revisited their blind audition songs that landed them spots on the show in the first place and also sang a duet with their coaches Christina and Adam.

Each singer also performed a song assigned by their coach and together performed I'll Be There by The Jackson Five.

The finale on Tuesday was scheduled to include guest performances by superstars including Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and Ne-Yo.

I tried to watch it when it first started, but it quickly became clear to me that the show is more focused on the celeb judges and their bickering that it has to do with actually finding new talent. Plus, Christina tries to make mini-me's of her female contestants and is rude to those not on her team.

The few times I tuned in this year, the singers were boring and uninspired. The songs they chose were monotonous. Could have been the times I tuned in, but I was not inclined to continue watching each show.

I agree with everyone who says the show drags. They make a 30-minute show into 2 hours with lots of commercials and rambling from the judges. The judges are the ones who make the show - and I honestly think that Blake, Shakira, and Usher are the only good judges. Adam is just an egotistical idiot, Cee-Lo seems to lose most of his contestants early on (which means he sits around twiddling his thumbs the rest of the season), and Christina trashes every contestant who isn't hers.

Maybe they should stay out of politics and stick to singing........

This show is rapidly becoming like all the others in this genre. The judges go on and on and on...much better when the show isn't live and a lot of the babble is cut. Also, the voting process is ridiculously unfair. I won't be watching the next season.

If I see one more singing reality show I think I'll scream. Enough already!! Sick to death of them.

The Voice lost a lot of viewers when they put Christina and CeeLo back in instead of Usher and Shakira. CeeLo was worthless this season (and not much better in seasons 1-3). Christina is a witch with a capital B. It's painful to watch her tear down every contestant who isn't on her team. She doesn't even try to appear nice. She's downright mean and ugly. Then, when it's one of hers, she blubbers on endlessly about nothing. The viewers aren't stupid. When Christina is speaking to one of her own team members afer the singer blew a song (in a bad way) and Christina gushes as though it was the second coming, it doesn't make you want to watch the show. Especially when she's just blasted a significantly better performance by someone on another team. I would expect that when they put Usher and Shakira back in, the ratings will go back up.

Duh!! That's because the show is horribly boring! Too much time listening to the judges rant back and forth

Viewers feel tired of obese Blake Shelton and ugly Adam Levine flirting with each other. No one ever wanted to watch nasty, obese Cee Lo.
