Regional Joint Task Forces

Six standing regional Joint Task Force Headquarters strategically located across Canada provide operational command and control to task forces deployed on continental operations. When an operation begins, the commander of the affected region has the authority to task any or all personnel and assets of the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force that are available in his or her area of responsibility.

The Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force are known as  “force generators” because they provide the trained personnel required to make up a task force, and the equipment, weapons, vehicles and other resources they need to do their jobs. As a  “force employer”, CJOC through its regional Joint Task Force Headquarters deploys that task force on a continental operation, and directs it until the operation is ended.
