The Pig Brooch Theater Company presents “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” a stage adaptation of the 1965 animated television special based on the Charles Schulz comic strip, with music by Vince Guaraldi. Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison Avenue, at 36th Street. An original manuscript of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” is on display through Jan. 12. Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby Street, near Houston Street, SoHo. “What the Dickens?,” a reading of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol,” preceded by caroling by members of the New York City Master Chorale and holiday treats. At noon, 212-334-3324, housingworks.org.

Washington Square Park, Greenwich Village. “Unsilent Night,” a participatory performance piece by the composer Phil Kline, performed since 1992, with recorded music and voices played on boomboxes; spectators are asked to provide their own equipment, but a limited amount will be available for borrowing. Sunday

Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, at 95th Street. “An Irish Christmas,” a benefit for the Irish Arts Center, featuring music, dance and storytelling, will include performances by the Irish musician Mick Moloney, the fiddler Athena Tergis (from “Riverdance”) and others. Thursday

Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (Episcopal), 1047 Amsterdam Avenue, at 112th Street, Morningside Heights. This year, Paul Winter’s Winter Solstice Celebration will feature a “Salute to Brazil,” with performances by the singer Ivan Lins, the singer and guitarist Renato Braz and a Brazilian chorus; also, Mr. Winter and his ensemble; the Forces of Nature Dance Theater; and the gospel singer Theresa Thomason. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 81 Christopher Street, Greenwich Village. “Adam’s Gifts,” an updated version of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol,” by Peter Filichia, will feature the Broadway actors William Parry ( “Sunday in the Park With George”), Maureen Silliman (“Is There Life After High School?” and “Shenandoah”) and Philip Hoffman (“Into the Woods” and “Falsettos”). Carnegie Hall “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” a staged concert version of the 1965 animated television special, with the New York Pops, directed by Steven Reineke; dancers from New York Theater Ballet; and young actors from Tada! Dec. 22

Church of the Intercession, Broadway and West 155th Street, Washington Heights. The annual reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s “Visit From St. Nicholas” features a slide show presentation of previous events at 3 p.m., followed by a musical prelude at 3:30 and a service with music at 4. A procession to Moore’s grave is at 5 p.m., followed by a reception. Participants include the Rt. Rev. Andrew M. L.
