Application

The National Academy of Sciences, a private nonprofit corporation chartered by an act of Congress, and the organizations formed under its congressional charter, the National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council are collectively referred to herein as the "National Academies". The terms of use specified herein apply to all Web pages and Web sites created by the National Academies, including all affiliates, offices, divisions, boards, and committees thereof.

Acceptance of terms of use

By using this Web site, you signify your agreement to all terms, conditions and notices contained or referenced herein. If you do not agree to these terms of use you may not use this Web site. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update or revise these terms of use. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of this site following the posting of any changes to the terms of use constitutes acceptance of those changes.

User's grant of nonexclusive license

By providing data in response to this Web site, or otherwise participating in or using any communications service, chat room, webcast, message board or other interactive activity on this Web site (content), you:

The National Academies does not routinely pre-screen, monitor or edit the content posted by users of chat rooms, message boards, newsgroups, webcasts or other interactive services that may be available on or through this Web site. However, the National Academies may, in its sole discretion, perform such screening, editing or monitoring and to remove any content that, in the National Academies' judgment, does not comply with the terms of use or is otherwise harmful, objectionable or inaccurate. The National Academies are not responsible for any failure or delay in removing such content.

Tapes or transcripts of public meetings

Webcasts, audio/video tapes or transcripts of open meetings or sessions, workshops, symposia or public data-gathering meetings sponsored by the National Academies, which are made available on this Web site, are not official reports of the National Academies.
