I’m Stuck And I Can’t Write
When I get stuck while I’m writing, it’s usually a sign that I went the wrong way with my story somewhere. Recently, I had to admit I’d jacked up my story. In my haste to reach the end, I made a bad plot decision. This decision deflated my heroine’s spunk and had my hero acting out of character.

Edits My Way
Today, my accountability group is sharing our editing process. I’m still tweaking mine to see what works and what doesn’t. So here are the parts of my process:
1. Edit a hard copy. I print out a chapter at time, two pages on one sheet a paper with 1.15 line spacing. Working on a chapter at a time makes the whole thought daunting. I also like the portability of printed pages. I can stick them in my purse or pocket and be able to work just about anywhere. Also, seeing my words in a different format helps me catch errors/funky parts I might miss my first round of edits. Once I done with the pages, they go into my scratch paper box and get used for to do lists, doodles and to record bursts of my creative genius when I can’t get to a notebook.
2. Write in a notebook. Sometimes I jot down the changes in a notebook as I read the hard copy. Or if I’m doing edits on the computer and get stuck, I’ll bust out a notebook and rework the section longhand.

Soda Santa and Elf
Here are the Christmas gifts my younger kids and I made for their teachers. They did most of the work. I was the glue supervisor and instruction giver. We drew on last year’s Soda Elf idea.

So my word for 2013 is reduce the clutter in my life so I can life more purposely and freely. Aside from getting rid of stuff in my home, I’ll be clearing out my computer. I have tons of files that haven’t been touched in ages or are of no use as well as sites I bookmarked for later review. Later never came. These links have been piling up for over a year.
I’m going to go through my saved links and share the ones I think are cool or useful.
