His love of toy helicopters was understood to be a bone of contention with estranged wife Kris, but there was no stopping Bruce Jenner on Monday as he played with his mini-chopper in Los Angeles.

The former Olympian cut something of a lonely figure while navigating the impressive looking helicopter around a deserted lot.

Bruce kept a white baseball cap pulled low over his head as he guided the craft with a large remote control before strolling over to a nearby set of benches, where he proceeded to disassemble it.

The 64-year-old’s passion for remote controlled miniature vehicles is well documented – and sources claim the hobby has helped him take his mind off his recent marital woes.

‘Bruce loves his toy helicopters and he is an amazing pilot,’ an insider told RumorFix. ‘He has around five in different colors and he loves cleaning and maintaining them before taking them out flying, it is his way of escaping.

‘The guy can even fly them upside down by changing the pitch of the rotors, he is that skilled.

‘These helicopters are his pride and joy and they can cost as much as $1000 each – he even has a battery powered one because it is more environmentally – friendly there is no way he would want to give them-up.’

His pastime was also thought to be a motivating reason for his sudden move out of the Kardashian family home and into a Malibu beach house following the birth of granddaughter North – weeks before his split with Kris went public. 

‘Bruce was unable to have his friends over to fly their remote controlled helicopters in the backyard because of concerns of noise,’ a source told RadarOnline at the time.

‘The entire household has been turned upside down because Kim and Nori have moved in. Bruce has been run out of the house! Kris didn’t encourage him to stay either.’

Doubtful his 'copters had anything to do with his moving house. Noise is not exactly a problem in a house that size with a garden that large.
